Re: A Hamster Called George
I'm so sorry to hear that. Did the vet check his mouth and throat to see if there was an obstruction?

Re: A Hamster Called George
So sorry to hear about this Rads. It looks like you've seen a vet now and/or decided what to do.

Re: A Hamster Called George
Hello All,
George has been back to the vets, he is now on a diuretic every 6 hours as the vet was concerned about fluid around the heart and on his lungs, this was primarily due to she couldn't hear his heart, George is bright and trying so I was not keen to have him PTS just yet, I want to give him the best chance he can have, but if this doesn't work then the end may be nearer than I would like to think.

Re: A Hamster Called George
It's certainly worth a try and may keep George comfortable so he can carry on hamstering about for some time yet.
Fingers crossed the treatment will be successful.

Re: A Hamster Called George
Glad to hear that the vet is trying with treatment while George is still trying with life.
Hope he is comfortable for a while yet.

Re: A Hamster Called George
Update....
The Meds are seemingly having the desired effect as he is breathing a lot better, but to be brutally honest I think George is coming to his end of life, his weight loss is significant though he his very bright eyed when his eyes are open.

At least he's more comfortable now to enjoy whatever time you have left together.

Re: A Hamster Called George
I came home from work at 03.15 this morning to find George collapsed in the midst of his cage with bis head in his food bowl, he was very very cold yet breathing very shallowly, I got him out and onto a heated fleece blanket where I cleaned him up as the wood shavings substrate had stuck to his coat quite badly, as the warmth of the blanket seeped into him the little chap was still trying and even got his paws under him and tried to move but he just couldn't so he lay there being stroked gently George passed this morning at 04.50.
Take care my little friend on your new adventure there are many a small furry out there for you to befriend and hopefully cause some good and proper chaos. Such as Forest the escapologist, Pip the queen of divas, Ghost aka Mr Stroppy and Poppy climber extraordinary with you George it will be the Ham Team......
