Thank you, Tarak is quite an age...!
George is quite a size now, and has warped his wheel with his crazy running so another new one is on order...

Warping his wheel is a good description, it sounds like it has a rather bad limp he is in it now and the noise is quite deafening....
His new one should be here by Friday.

Re: A Hamster Called George
He's worn out his wheel! Jeepers, he must be a heavy pawed ham.

Re: A Hamster Called George
It's update time, George approved of his new wheel, now when he runs in it he is quiet no longer does it sound as though it is a spin dryer with rocks in it..!
Tonight George allowed me to pick him up with out much aggro and seemed quite settled to be carried though he did keep trying to climb up to my shoulders..!
George had about 10 mins of out of cage time on the sofa, and when he was put back in his cage he ran round his habitat and kept coming back to the door as though he wanted out again....
Such a change from not wanting to be handled even stroking upset him to this with no coaxing at all, things can only improve further I hope.
Mrs R said he looks like a mini hippy with his long hair and suggest ed we get him a baby brush to brush him with.

Re: A Hamster Called George
George update,
I put some things in George's cage for his interest, he now uses them to sit on while chewing the bars in the top corner of his cage...!
He has also taken to chewing his extending tube too, he is a cheeky bugger..
when he hears the salad bag rustling he stands at the door of his cage waiting..!

Re: A Hamster Called George
Lovely that George is having sofa time and less skitty It does take a while at first. I sometimes think they're not fully chilled until they're a year old! His little face is gorgeous. Which wheel did you get? Pickle is huge and thunders in his wheel and gives it a real hammering. It's the Trixie wood wheel and I reckon it would have been broken by now but I've got it screwed upside down in his cage and it seems to be doing better like that, than on its stand.

George's wheel is a 28cm Trixie plastic one, these I use all the time as it is easy to wash and get clean, especially when it has Hamster wee and poo on it, as they don't stop while trying to run the wheel off of its mountings..

Re: A Hamster Called George
And they're cheap enough to replace when hammered! Strangely Pickle doesn't seem to pee in his wheel.
