The most colourful little character i ever had was a tiny dwarf called Clarissa. Sadly, she died of cancer at only 10 month old. There is a thread here called Clarissa.

I just read the thread. She was simply amazing. I loved reading about her.

Re: Rodney
Rodney and Jack are always first up 6/6.30 then Robo Scottie at 7. Clive at 8, Rory at 9/9.30 and Robo Lola at 10/10.30. Dwarf Gertie is a daytime hamster and dwarf Jim a ghost hamster but i see him at 10 in the morning sometimes.
Works out quite well with out of cage and one to one time.
I just sat in the hall with Rodney but Clive in the spare room got miffed because he likes to be where i am. He wouldn't come when i called him and sat in a corner sulking! Coaxed him out with sunflower seeds, made a fuss of him and now he's running around all over the place.

Re: Rodney
I love these stories! How cute Clive loves to be in your company so much. I did not realise some hamsters woke at these earlier times. I really hope my future hamster does not wake too late. I struggle to stay awake after 11!

Re: Rodney
Organisations like Happy Hamsters UK give a very good description of the hamsters available for adoption.
You should be able to find one who gets up early.

Great pictures of Rodney and how fantastic all your hamsters wake at different times ready to feed and play. It’s like a well organised rota, with them all waiting their turn. My daughter and I love reading about all the hamsters on this forum. Do you find the clock change has thrown the routine out a bit. Hammy doesn’t seem to be showing his head before 11pm now.

It doesn't throw the hamsters routine because they can't tell the time and get up when they're ready.
It throws our routine a bit because to us they get up later. I've always seen the clock changes as a nuisance anyway.

Re: Rodney
Rodney has suddenly started to show his age appearance wise. It happened so quickly. He's looking bonier and thinner which is quite upsetting but just nature taking its course. I suppose their aging process is so rapid because their lives are so short.
Strange thing is that he appears to be even more energetic. Running around the room and picking up speed.
