Re: Rodney
Got another telling off from Rodney.
I placed a sheet of kitchen roll in his cage to put his poops on while spot cleaning. Thought he was asleep in his house but no, he stuck his nose out. And then he grabbed the kitchen rolll and tried to pull it into his house! Rodney! No, it's dirty and i quickly pulled it back.
He looked at me and chirped and chirped until i run to the bathroom to fetch some looroll, tore it into strips and chucked it at him. He went in and out of his house with one strip at a time and then had a final sniff around to make sure none got left behind.

Re: Rodney
Oh my gosh, that sounds so funny! I would love to have seen that. You really did get a telling off.
That reminds me of the time I was using a tissue to blow my nose and one of my guinea pigs was trying to pull it off me. I was telling her it was dirty and she would not stop. Lol.

Lol! I love guinea pigs. They have a lot to say for themselves.
That happened a couple of nights ago with Rodney and i was going to mention it on his thread but got sidetracked. It was just now, when i read about the snuffle toy on Orko's thread that i remembered.

Guinea pigs are amazing. Luckily for me mine did not avoid me unlike a certain little munchkin.
I love hearing about your hamsters.

This is funny Ria, he caught you out as he was awake and thought, hello that looks like nice bedding Great you managed to pull it back and then quickly pop in some toilet roll to keep him happy. It’s amazing how much bedding they can actually pouch.

They pouch out of habit or instinct even when they don't need more bedding and then eventually run out of space for themselves.

Oh wow didn’t realise this. I only give Hams extra strips of bedding probably once a week, maybe he’d really like more???? To proper stuff out his nest. Oops!
I look in on his nest every 3 days and if I think he needs more I give it but if it still looks proper cosy I don’t. Hmmmm, would be quite cute to see if he’d fill the entire shoe box. With autumn/winter approaching maybe a good idea to start now.

When Rodney sleeps in a hide i know that he can't get into his house. That's when i take some of the bedding out and he moves straight back in.
That was before he took ill of course, things are a bit different now.
Henry (our first hamster, the Syrian in my avatar) used to insulate the inside walls of his house in the winter and did a fabulous job. Gives them something to do as well.

Re: Rodney
I had to wait for my OH to go out so i can bake Rodney's wooden things. I don't know if my OH would have been happy with me using his oven for hamster stuff.
I'd better get on with it now.

Re: Rodney
Just do it quickly and he may not notice. I remember the last time I baked a new cork log. My partner came home and said he could smell a horrible smell. Lol.
