Yes, he kept his hair and teeth into old age.

He gave me a fright again last night. He laid down on top of his house but wasn't asleep. Eyes were wide open and he lays there very very still, breathing slowly. I didn't go to bed till 2am because i was sitting with Rory. I kept quiet at first and then chatted to him.
He suddenly looked up and looked at me then hurried off into his house. It's almost like he snaps out of a trance like state.
On both ocassions i half expected him to stop breathing. I've always had a very strong bond with Rory. Not unlike Rodney but in a quiet, much more subtle way.

Gosh that must have been very frightening for you. Maybe he was very relaxed just listening to your voice. Your bond sounds so lovely. I hope you are not too tired today.

His bungalow looks very nice. It is scary when they do things like that. It has been quite warm recently though - sometimes they do that when it's a bit warm - find somewhere to lie down and cool off and stay out of the nest/house. Or maybe he's adjusting to the changed set up as well. Perhaps he's adopted the house roof as a shelf now there aren't any levels? Glad he seemed ok.

He still has shelves but i've lowered them because his mobility and energy level varies from day to day. His food bowl and water bottle are still on the front corner shelf where they've always been but he has a second bottle and bowl near his house as well now.

That's Rory just now, doing this scary thing.
He lays down, goes still, stares into space and looks vacant.
Then he suddenly jumps up and runs into his house or coconut.

Aww, I wonder if he is day dreaming. I can understand why it scares you.

Maybe. He's only recently started doing this so i suspect it's age related.

As mentioned in another thread, i've moved Rory's cage from the high table down to the low table. I was concerned that a change of location would upset him at his age.

The first night he appeared a little unsettled but by the second night he was himself again, with a boost. He is more active when freeroaming and runs on the wheels again. He was out twice tonight! He's gone to bed now and came to me when i called him so he must have tired himself out and wanted to go home. It must be a co incidence though because i can't see what difference a lower table would make.

Strangly, hyperactive Clive who is now higher up, seems to be calmer.

Jack's not affected and is his usual calm and laid back self.

Rory went through a phase a while ago when i thought that he was nearing the end. He'd ask to come out most evenings but go to sleep under the shoe rack or sit in a corner. He's really perked up again. I'm sure that the Metacam helps too.
I've put Rodney on it as well. Their back legs get a bit stiff in old age which i had noticed with Rodney.
I think there's quite a bit of life left in the two old boys yet which i'm very happy about.
Our first Syrian died at 22 months, peacefully, but it was awful to watch him decline rapidly.
