Thank you all. Biopsy not available until some time after 7th June. Fingers crossed. It could be anything so we’ll have to wait and see.

Pickle is back in his Mickey 2XL. He didn’t seem to use his wheel the first night (checked the hanstercam). I was a bit concerned that maybe he was still getting pain so decided to keep giving the Metacam a few more days. Either that or he had got used to not having a wheel abd forgotten what to do with it!

Second night he had Metacam and was much more chirpy and wanting to come out. So time in the playpen and he seemed quite happy. Had a run in the playpen wheel. I decided to add the long roof tube to his cage, which he hasn’t had since he was in that cage - leading to the Sputnik as didn’t want him over straining trying to climb onto the Sputnik. He came out and looked a bit - hmm - what have you done. Then went back on his house.

I had to telesales the location of a couple of cage items in case he decided to jump out of the Sputnik. He came out again giving me a look and checking what I was doing. Anyway he seems to have accepted the changes.

Pickle is still settling back on his old cage- I think it might take a while after all the upheavals he’s had to and from the vets - switching cages twice. He comes out for food normally but seems a bit unsure of himself and hasn’t been using his wheel the last two nights.

Tonight I put some treats in it. And now he’s running in his wheel . It occurred to me he may be also adjusting to only having one scent gland now so maybe he can’t scent mark as well and so a bit disorientated with that too. Or even feeling different.

Pickle is doing nicely and back to his old self. His hair hasn’t all grown back yet but the odd furry tuft is appearing. His scar is virtually gone. He still gets ultra excited at discovering half a walnut - almost shakes with excitement, grabs it and runs back in his house with it. He is just as active as ever and doesn’t seem to have any ill after effects from the anaesthetic.

Before the op he weighed a whopping 270g. Since the op he has been a steady 263g - so either the weight of the lump has been lost or he has lost a bit of weight naturally - probably a bit of both. He is still the biggest hamster I’ve had.

Just remembered I haven’t heard about the biopsy results yet so need to chase that up. Time flies.

Thank you for the update. I was wondering how Pickle was doing the other. So glad he's back to his normal self.

Let us know the result of the biopsy please.

Good to hear that Pickle is doing so well.
He is certainly a big boy and hopefully his biopsy will be ok.

Apparently the biopsy results still aren't back yet so they are chasing it up. Anyway Pickle seems fine which is the main thing

Apparently the biopsy results are actually back now. I missed a call from the vet which was annoying. She left a message saying the results are "relatively positive" but wants to talk it through with me in more detail - but might not be able to call back for a couple of days.

So relatively positive sounds good to me. Either it's non malignant or it was malignant but enclosed in a sac and they got rid of it all possibly.
