Yes the infection didn’t come back straight away so the antibiotics worked last time. And it’ll keep him comfortable.

I didn't start the antibiotics because Pickle has taken a turn for the worse. I noticed he hadn't eaten much and even left most of his baby food and metacam. He didn't look good at all, so I got him out and he staggered and couldn't stand up and kept collapsing. His head is also slightly more swollen. It's come on in the last day or two. So I'm taking him to the vets to be pts. Even if antibiotics helped that could take a week, and he's suffering. Plus not eating really and I don't want to force meds on him. He still hasn't lost weight and his fur is in good condition - doesn't look like an old hamster.

Oh, I am so sorry on top of everything else as well. For what it’s worth you’re doing the right thing, that’s no life to live in pain and struggling. Sending all my best wishes, play well at the bridge Pickle 🌈🐹

This is such sad news to read about the gorgeous Pickle. A sudden deterioration is always a bad sign and you have been through this before. It does sound as though his struggles have become too much for him now.

Thank you so much for those positive thoughts and remarks - they are so much appreciated - and make up for the insensitivity of the vet I had today, which I will be complaining about. I had plenty of chats with Pickle on the way to the vets and had said goodbye and it all felt right - I just wanted to make sure he wasn't suffering any more.

But some of these vets need some training in communication skills - that upset me a lot.

Maybe, when your emotions aren't quite as raw it may help to talk about your experience.

You had far too much loss in your life lately and you need time to come to terms with it all.

Take care of yourself.

Farewell across the rainbow bridge Pickle. You are pain free now and can join and play with some very special heart hams who have crossed before you.
Pickle had a very long and loving home with you Serendipity. He is at peace.
Now take care of yourself in these difficult days.

Thank you both. Yes I won't talk about it right now, but whether I was having a difficult time or not, the Vet was well out of order. The practice are usually very good. OH was there too and he thought the same.

I am glad Pickle isn't struggling any more and is pain free now.
