Re: Maestro is here!
Thank you everyone for your lovely reactions to Maestro's rosette. I have put it up above his cage with certificate!
Today my daughter and bf came over for Father's Day lunch. She really wanted to meet Maestro despite the time of day. After the show, I knew he could cope though I suspect he will hide from me tonight! So out he came and was fine being handled by strange hands again. What a lovely temperament he has. He will get a treat left in his Sputnik later.
I took the chance to weigh him again and he was 180. So plus 5 in the last 2 weeks. Gaining a little but at a slower rate.

Re: Maestro is here!
Nice that Maestro enjoyed Father's Day with the rest of you. Newt was like that - seemed to get to about 180g - and then suddenly shot up to 220g ish!

Re: Maestro is here!
I'm so happy that Maestro met your daughter today and it sounds like the Father's Day celebration together was absolutely perfect. It is also lovely that his gorgeous and well-deserved rosette and certificate are hanging above his cage. He is such a handsome sweetheart.

Aww, so lovely hearing how much Maestro's confidence has grown and what a good boy meeting your daughter and being an absolute gentle-ham.
An impressive weight too.

Re: Maestro is here!
Thanks everyone. It's been hot here like everywhere else. Been working hard to keep the room temperature down around him. Have not seen that much of him. I thought he would be out earlier as it is so warm but he has not changed his routine. He does love his rat Sputnik as so many hams do. He sits in there to watch the world go by, eat treats and have his nightly grooming session. If I don't see him, I leave a treat there for him.

Re: Maestro is here!
The last couple of days have been so hot, today's a bit cooler. I too have been working at keeping the temperature down Coco, been checking on MH every hour through the day. I'm giving MH some veg in the morning and early evening. He accepted half a Grape yesterday and enjoyed it.

Re: Maestro is here!
Maestro sounds really sweet sitting in his sputnik to watch the world go by
I think it's probably cooler in their cages & burrows than we imagine but I'm sure Maestro is still appreciating all the help with keeping him cool.

Re: Maestro is here!
Thanks TL and cypher. We have invested in a new small weather station that has a lovely colour display indoors and has an outside (wall mounted in the shade) temperature monitor that sends the info back to base. So it shows indoor and outdoor temp. H chose it carefully and we can keep an eye on things very well.
Last night, Maestro came out and climbed out of the front door to see me. I took advantage of that and tried some sofa play time. When he seemed a little uncertain, I put the second Sputnik on the sofa. He had seen it in his playpen before and I have it hemp lined like the one in his cage. Result- after a good sniff around it, in he went. Only some cautious looking around by it after that before returning inside. No exercise or exploration was wanted so eventually I carried it back to his cage and he hopped out and into...the other Sputnik!
