So long as the cage is big enough with plenty for him to do, a lazy boy is quite content hamstering around. Human interaction is not always top of a hamster's list. At least you see him and he is out at weekends.

Coco,
Ghost lives in an Alaska that I have customised so that he has more levels and ramps and hide aways.
When he gets a cage clean it is only really an advanced spot clean which means disruption is at a bare minimum, even so he always goes round and inspects everything yet has never seemed perturbed by it.

Re: Meet Ghost-The Ghost Files
It's set to get colder Rads, so don't be surprised if Ghost stays in bed longer. I so hope adoption was a joke. Master Harvey's been getting up a bit later over the last few weeks, I don't mind as I get a bit extra time in bed.

Re: Meet Ghost-The Ghost Files
That's what I meant really Rads. Ghost has all he needs in his lovely cage and so is disinclined to be out and about when you want him to be. When it's warmer, I am sure it will be better.

Re: Meet Ghost-The Ghost Files
The only thing I can coax him out for at night when I get home is some yogurt which he adores, he prefers Whipped Greek Style...! Or Cathedral City cheese spread..

Re: Meet Ghost-The Ghost Files
I’m sorry to hear that you haven’t been seeing must of Ghost recently. I also hope that the thought of him up for adoption was a passing thought too - as you are still providing Ghost an amazing home, where he is spoilt and loved - as you would never know how someone else might look after him and might not receive the same level of love as you provide him.
Some hamster don’t desire human interaction as much as other also this colder weather might also have lead to you not seeing much of him as you would like (I know with Pumpkin I am not seeing as much of he this week as I have in previous week as she prefering to stay tucked up in bed).
You could try coaxing him out with the yoghurt or the cheese spread earlier in the evening - this might gradually help him used to getting up slightly earlier.

SKB,
I work Nights and usually finish about 3AM-ish so I don't want to disturb him during the day time.

SKB I normally go out about 5pm, I leave scattered little treats for Ghost before I go so that has something else to do..

Re: Meet Ghost-The Ghost Files
Ok, I thought you could possible spend time with him before you left but that seems a little early to be waking him up.
However I’m sure Ghost really appreciates the treats you scattered around for him. Maybe when it starts warming up Ghost might be awake when you get home.
But you are still providing Ghost an amazing home and he is so very lucky to have you caring for him.

Re: Meet Ghost-The Ghost Files
Hi All,
Sunday evening Ghost was very much a tad hyper, he was trying to burrow to Australia in his sand bath to start with, then he had a funny five minutes running about his cage up down all ramps in and out his hideaways, it reminded me of Mrs R when she has lost something, then he decided to pull his climbing tower over and then hide behind it and then give me the most innocent 'it wasn't me it just fell over look I have ever seen...!'
