You still think I should switch to Harry hamster, when she is sorting what she wants and does not want?

Also just to make clear, Isa has never been injured here ^^ Not saying that you said she had, just wanted to make that clear ^^

I would listen to your vet Chiela, while it's true that mineral stones aren't generally good for healthy hamsters as they don't need the extra supplement & the excess can lead to kidney stones & possibly other problems that is healthy hamsters not hamsters that have health problems, I know Isa has had some problems for a while now & you've had trouble finding a suitable diet that she will eat so I would take the advice given by the vet & if she's eating better with her current diet then stick to that.
It may even be that apart from not eating all she should with something like Harry Hamster she may not be absorbing everything from her food (just a possibility but something the vet might have considered?) & if so would need the extra she would get from a stone or supplements.

Different mixed foods often give different reactions,so it's impossible to guarantee that just because she selectively fed on one means that she'll always selectively feed on all mixes.Plus, the size of food pieces can be a factor(not common with Syrians but still possible).Even foods which may seem similar give different reactions.

Combine tough love, encouragement, and if it seems necessary break larger pieces of food up.

Amity I think you have to take the individual hamster & her history into consideration here rather than just offering blanket advice.

I agree with CMB and Cypher about the mineral stone. Listen to your vet. Sounds like you are lucky to have such a good one!

Apologies for any misunderstanding caused by my original answer. It was not clear from your first post that your hamster was sick due to a deficit. The concerns I highlighted would only apply if the hamster in question did not NEED more minerals. As yours clearly does, the same issues are not there.

The one thing I would be slightly worried about is whether she is actually getting those extra minerals, especially if they are important for her health! To my knowledge, no ham of mine has ever touched a mineral stone or lick lol. Hope your little one stars chewing hers. Since you say you haven't seen her do so, perhaps you could ask your vet for an alternative way of getting more minerals into her more directly - just so you can be sure that she has taken them? Tell her to get well soon

Aprilpearl >> np it's fine ^^ I appreciate any input.

As for the issue with eating better, i should say so hahaha she has put on 15 gram which is quite a bit for such a small animal.

But ty for all your input.
I think I got it now ^^
