Re: Newt's thread
It's good to know that he's doing very well and that he has being very busy. I laughed reading about the hemp mat LOL

Re: Newt's thread
Newtie comes out when I call him about 6pm for food time. He is out and about in his cage from about 9pm at the moment. He is keen to come out into the playpen and hops into the hamster ball that I hold next to one of the small front Barney doors and use to carry him to the playpen. Stepson was here tonight and as he was still awake, had a bit of time with Newtie and got into the playpen with him. Newtie made stepson laugh as he jumped in and out of the wheel and whizzed around occasionally.
Here is Newtie in the playpen tonight. I think he is settling in and looks more relaxed, and even a little bit more grown up, in less than a week.
I added an extra water bottle in his cage as I keep finding it knocked out of the stand, just to be sure he can get water. He'll probably knock them both out of the stands now! I think he climbs on top of them.

Re: Newt's thread
This morning the original water bottle was still in place and the new one knocked out of the holder. When I put the extra bottle in he did not look pleased at me putting something in his cage, making him have to walk round it and changing his route slightly, and this morning has buried himself in by piling Fitch up in front of the shelf. I think it's fairly normal for them to block up the entrance to their house though.

Re: Newt's thread
Good idea with the 2 waterbottles. I put 2 in Mushu’s cage for the same reason, though he has never knocked either off. I just can’t get over how sweet his face is! He really does take a good photo ah he is clearly making himself at home with his ‘fitch renovations’!

Re: Newt's thread
He's quite the poser I like the way he looks at the camera to get his photo taken, he knows how cute he looks
I laughed at him climbing up his water bottles and pulling them out lol, what a little mischief maker he is

Re: Newt's thread
I don't think he intends to pull them out lol. They are the Ferplast drinky mouse bottles which are held in by an internal clip - I really like them. I think he climbs on top of them which pushes them down in the clip so they fall out. Anyway one was still standing today. If it becomes a regular thing with both I might need to get a different water bottle/fastener.
Yes I thought he was posing too He seems to need to do a lot of rushing around and have a mad half hour wearing himself out before he sits still and enjoys a stroke. He still does lots of sniffing of everything in the playpen, round the edges of entrances to things. It's quite fascinating. I'm wondering if sniffing scent marks things as well. As he is already familiar with those toys now. Maybe he's just working out where entrances are and what things are. I have that on a video which will get round to uploading at some point.
