Newt is certainly loving his new abode and plenty of substrate to dig around in, he is an excellent tunnel maker by the looks and sounds of things! I laughed at him flying around under the half Sputnik! Hes a little live wire! Sooooo cute. No wonder he flew out past you little rascal! You did well to catch him. Naughty boy chewing the carpet lol. Mine have actually piddled on the carpet once or twice :/ not too often thankfully! I do like your the look of your wheel and playpen

So happy for you that you have Newt, I'm sure you still miss Charlie rip
Glad taming is going well, I suppose that every ham needs taming a little different, however slow or fast as long as you reach the destination, or whatever that means? Lol

Great to see he continues to grow! Will be interesting to see if Newtie remains bigger than Mushu at his next weigh tomorrow when he will be 18 weeks old. Last week he was 147g, so had just fallen behind Newt.

Thank you April and CB. Hamsters do come in all sizes! Newtie's weight gain was less over the last week so maybe it is slowing down now. Yes CB I still think of Charlie often. His flowerbed is looking very lush at the moment (a bit too lush!) The Geranium came out and a primrose. There is also a lot of greenery and I need to wait a bit to decide whether it is a weed or a wildflower I planted. I will take a photo of it when I get chance.

I did try to get Newtie out an hour earlier last night as 10.30pm wake up is a bit late for me to give him enough out of cage time. But being a hamster he was quite contrary and went straight back to bed and refused to come out lol - meaning he got up even later than usual last night at about 11.30pm! I was just about to give up when he wanted to come out. I can see who is in charge here lol. I may have to start waking him early evening for out of cage time.

Mushu has had weeks where he has gained more and others where he's put on less, but as he has gotten older overall it has been slowing down.

Haha Newt is trying to train you to get him out at the 'proper' time! I think I am quite lucky in that Mushu gets up relatively early and is still up when I wake up as I am an early riser, so I get to see him in the morning and evening. All hamsters are different, though.

Newtie is going to be a nice chunky size I think.
Glad Charlie's garden has bloomed so well for your special boy.

Sounds like he's getting very big! Remember earlier on in this thread, the picture of him next to the hyacinth ball? Perhaps you could get another photo of him next to it to compare his size then to now

Well he does look about full sized now but I expect there's a little bit more growing to do
I shall try and see him next to the hyacinth ball at some point when the opportunity arises

Well Newtie is still pushing around the sputnik hide from the inside lol. Even without added toys in the playpen - it must be a new game. I have also put Charlie's old little salt pig in there and Newtie likes sitting in that - it's sort of egg shaped and also cool ceramic.
