Re: Mushu the Fluffy
Thank you Rads. Yes, I have tried that and he will even come and sit on my hands sometimes when I do that. I just always get the feeling that he feels nervous. Well, that is undertandable I guess as everything is so new and strange. But, I will continue trying until I feel that he feels at home.

Re: Mushu the Fluffy
That song is so perfect for Mushu. So shiny, so very fluffy.
10 days isn't long and I think you've made great progress. It's important you go at his pace.

Re: Mushu the Fluffy
IS THAT FOOD I HEAR?
This morning, Mushu must have been waiting for his breakfast, because when he heard the food dropping into his bowl, he got up out of his nest and came to see what was going on! After he had pouched his mix, he had a bit of my breakfast banana and some of his seed gnawing stick thing sitting on my hands. That's made me feel more positive!

Re: Mushu the Fluffy
Sounds like the perfect start to your day, breakfast with lovely Mushu
Everytime I go in to the hamster room Artie appears at his food bowl to see if he's getting anything to eat, he's tiny but a total food monster

Re: Mushu the Fluffy
GHOSTS OF HAMSTERS PAST
I thought that you might be interested in seeing Mushu's predecessors. You can refer to my first 'background' post on this thread for more information about them.
First up, Alfie, my first hamster. He was sort of long haired, although as you can see he only really got two long tufts on either side of his tail and the rest of him remained merely fluffy. I think he was cream banded, but I'm not sure as he was more orange than Mushu.
Secondly, Sooty. I believe he was a short haired sable.
Scamp, who was adopted at an old age and shared between my brother and I at the same time as I had Alfie. He broke his hips when younger (before we owned him) after a fall and they healed at an angle which is why his legs were splayed when he sat. But, he was a happy hamster nevertheless. Not sure what colour he was - perhaps yellow or cinnamon?
My brother's hamsters also deserve an honerable mention, I think, although they weren't technically mine.
There was Kevin (golden?).
Pip - not sure on colour but mostly white with some cream and grey
And, finally, Jordy. Probably a black eyed cream, I think.
I love looking at photos of all my past hamsters and remembering the happy times we had with them. I just wish hamsters had a longer life span.

Re: Mushu the Fluffy
GET OUT OF MY HAIR
We have a problem. Mushu doesn't have so much a skirt anymore, as a dress. Either I keep forgetting how long his hair is, or it gets longer every time I see him. And, despite my best efforts, he now has some tiny pieces of carefresh stuck in the ends which I cannot tease out for love or money. I suspect we may have to snip them off. I had been going to switch him onto fitch, but now I think I will move him onto Back 2 nature pellets instead as they apparently tangle less.
On the subject of hair, I tried Mushu on flax seeds today, which are apparently good for keeping a hamster's coat glossy. Don't think Mushu's hair get much shinier, but he hoovered them up regardless.
Here he is looking deceptively innocent and short haired with that skirt of his tucked under him!

Thank you
You can either upload links to a photo by uploading a picture on your computer as an attachment. Or, you can embed an image directly into the post (as I do) by using a photo sharing website. I upload my photos onto photobox, then copy and paste its IMG code (shown by the photo on photobox) into my post. Don't know how to do it with other sites, such as Instagram.
If you are thinking of making a thread for Humphrey, I'd love to follow it.
