He's a delight! don't worry about the cheap in his ear, is more usual than you can imagine. Mine has his poor ears totally shred. It's not pretty to think about how they got hurt, but thankfully they can have a normal life

Quite a few hams do have little tears in their ears, one of mine does, just from sibling squabbles probably, I think it makes them all the more endearing

Ideally you want to fill the base of your cage with substrate, especially with a small cage, about 15-20cm is generally considered the minimum depth.

Thank you the funny little man has moved all the extra bedding I put in AGAIN and is once more sleeping firmly in the corner which he has almost completely cleared of bedding and shavings! But, I will try putting more shavings in and see what he thinks.

Previous hammies of ours came with a few chips too, but I was surprised by the side of Mushu's! I guess their ears are just so thin that they tear easily.

Mushu is such a good little boy. When I called him just now, he came out from under the toilet paper (which he has only just now started sleeping in!) and walked up to the front of the cage to see me. He let me feed him sunflower seeds and stroke him with my Gand inside the cage as he ate them, groomed and drank from his water bottle! I have never had a baby hamster come along this quickly before.

Mushu is so clever! This morning, he ran to his cage door for me when I called him and climbed into my hands.

We still need to work on actual picking up, though!

He looks lovely!! I love when they do that

He would probably enjoy more shavings tough, the tray looks a little bit empty
