new hamster Long sleeping hours and pooing lots at once
Hi I have got a new hamster and it seems to be sleeping very long hours. Its up in the morning when I wake up and seems to be very active when I not around. I have stayed up till gone 1 am in the morning and it still does not get up. I am not sure if I should dig her out at about 8pm.
Also she does not seem to be going to a poo very often. She did it all at once the other night and pooed loads.
Anyone have any advice?

Re: new hamster Long sleeping hours and pooing lots at once
She has just shown herself for the first time tonight. She is very shy though. She was bopping her head in and out of her nest so I got her out by feeding her some apple flavored drops. Its been a week now she has been hiding. Really pleased to see her. I was wondering if I would never see her.

You can get her up at a regular time to feed her a treat or two until she gets used to getting up at that time, some hammies do sleep a lot Ghost probably sleeps about 22 hours a day..!
Pooing a lot in one go is quite normal, Forrest our previous Ham would poo 20-30 poos in one go when he was in his ball. Ghost poos from his shelf in his cage so that he doesn't get poo in his cage, but it does go down the back of the unit his cage sits on... !

Hi Relwoh, welcome to the forum.
Hamsters tend to sleep more in the colder weather.
