Re: Meet Heaven, my new Syrian
Could you section off an area for the silent runner with bendy bridges or pieces of cardboard so the substrate is shallower there? I've done that with Zeki & Tinwë to stop them digging or burrowing under the wheel but it might also make it seem like a less tempting spot to build a nest!

That's a great idea as well Cypher I have bendy bridges, different sizes too. I bet that might work if she doest dig up the bridges but worth a good try

Honestly it sounds a lot more complicated than it actually is.It isn't much different from building a regular bin cage, only you have to cut holes in the sides of each bin you use and you can attach them with zip ties and such.Imagine a mesh window, but without mesh and instead of being for ventilation it allows a hamster to go between the bins but makes it more like one large bin!

Re: Meet Heaven, my new Syrian
Thanks for the idea, like to try a shelf with an edge and / or bendy bridges

Re: Meet Heaven, my new Syrian
Just called Pet-Co to ask about Heaven, how long she was at the store? I guess she was only at the store for two days. She was in an area with a towel over her cage so nobody could see her. So she must have been meant to be mine, or at least good timing
I told them about the moth problem but manager said she was off the last couple of days & never saw the hamster to get it set up

Welcome to the land of Syrians you'll probably say

That sounds a lot like something my Jessie would do.
Heaven looks very cute and cuddly in the photo, I'm sure she'll be very happy with you.

Re: Meet Heaven, my new Syrian
She's gorgeous.
I also had (Have? I found another larvae two days ago) moth problems and they are the worst I wish you the best, and I hope that you don't have to see them ever again
Blacky mess with his wheel the first time that I put him in his new tank, but never again. At the beginning he was using the house that I put in his tank as a nest, but for some reason he decided to make an open nest next to the wheel. The firsts days he blocked it, but he must learnt that the wheel wasn't running because of him, and now he builts like wall that allows him to use the wheel and have the nest next to it. They are so clever
Enjoy your new addition to the family

Re: Meet Heaven, my new Syrian
Thanks Fluffagram, I'm so happy that she's tame already. The former owner had her for 5 mo & never handled her. They just put that she's a friendly hamster on the sheet & that they didn't have time for her.
Hamsterita, I sure hope she works it out herself. She was busy moving bedding around her igloo house but wasn't nesting there yet. She's used to a tiny igloo, maybe I'll put her tiny igloo that I saved & sanitized into the bin in case she feels more secure.
No more moths thank God, too bad her old cage had moths. It wasn't a good cage at all

Congratulations CB on adopting the lovely Heaven. What a sweetie she is. Sounds as though she was meant for you at this time.

Re: Meet Heaven, my new Syrian
I think so too Coco, I think that I was the first person to enquire about her! Only at the pet store for 2 days out of the view of customers
