Hamsterita, I am not on Instagram, either. I saw both Rad's and Thin Lizzy's post on HC, so I am hoping all will be fine with Blacky, too. I will be praying that his vet visit goes well, and Blacky will be feeling wonderful and healthy. Eros, Snickers, and I are sending you and Blacky our very best wishes and tons of hugs. Eros and Snickers also give plenty of whisker kisses to both you and Blacky, too. Please let us know how darling Blacky is doing if you happen to get a chance. Our thoughts are with you both. xxx

I'm sure Hamsterita will be along soon to give everyone an update but I just thought I'd let you know he's been to the vet & got some meds (which he hates poor boy!) fingers crossed he'll be better soon.

It's good that Blacky now has some meds although I wish that it tasted better. Definitely fingers crossed that Hamsterita doesn't have too difficult of a time administering the medicine and Blacky will recover to full health soon.

I don’t use instagram so didn’t know about all this, but I know that Hamsteria often reads but does not comment so I am sending all the best to Hamsterita and Blacky. Tell Blacky to take those meds and get well soon! His was the first hamster’s thread that I read on HC so I am very attached to him.

Thank you all for your best wishes. I join HC all days even if I don't log in or post. I don't read absolutely all post as I did before because I don't have time enough but I like to keep track of all your beautiful fur babies. I passed the 3rd exam and since that my life has been all about study (even more than before) and that's why I'm missing. I hope I can post on all your threads soon but until then plz give a hug to Ghost, Harvey, Eros, Drago, the cypher hamily, Quigley, the BP new extended hamily, Pumpkin, Mocho, Newt and all the rest that always hang around.

Blacky's life was ok as usual, that's one of the other reasons why I didn't update this post, everything was OK, and I wasn't posting on your threads it seemed too egocentric only log in to post about Blacky if everything was like usual.

As I said, he was doing great, he was hanging with me at nights while I watched some HGC matches or something, even on day he felt asleep between my legs.

But suddenly, on Wednesday morning he started to behave very weird, he looked sleepy and he refused his sunflower seeds, so I started to being a little bit paranoid, but he didn't eat in the whole day, and then and night he didn't come out, I know because my father didn't see/heard him when he went to sleep, and I had left a lot of food scattered on purpose and everything was untouched. His hoard that is still in his potty was also untouched, so he wasn't eating and I thought that he wasn't drinking either. he looked very sleepy and off too. I had been contemplating to go with him to the vet on Wednesday but everybody thought I was over reacting. However after watching his uncommon behaviour my dad and I decided that It was better to go asap.

I rang what I thought it was the best exotic vet in the area and they told me that if he didn't have any external sympthomps, as limping, lumps, rashes, mucus, discharges, or something they couldn't do anything. But they were super kind because they give me the phone number of another vet that may could help. I rang and rang for half an hour and they wasn't picking and finally they answered the phone, and even if they didn't have open visits till next week they tried to make room for my visit that afternoon.

At the beginning I thought he wasn't going to make it because he looked very sleepy and without strenght. He only had eaten a few nibbles of vegs that I tried to feed him without much success. But when the time to got to the vet arrived he panicked and apparently all his strenght came back. I thought that I was going to look like an idiot in the vet, because he didn't look ill at all and they had treated him as an urgent patient to book his appointment

However they were very kind and they look like professionals that they knew exactly what to do. They even had a lab when they could test their blood if needed. They make him a check up, for lumps, blockages, mucus, his teeth, and so on, and they said that apparently everything was fine, so they decided to make him X-rays. Apparently the black spots could be gasses. And he may have a colic, and they think that could be the reason why he's not eating. They give me three kind of meds (I don't know what meds are, because they only told me how to give them to him and what they do). One is for regulate his bowels, another one an anty-inflamatory, and the third one are vitamins to open his appetite. They told me to call back if he loses more weight, he already lost a lot as he was usual around 194-200 gr and now he is 178. But they hope (and I) that we will be ok. If not they suggested to make a blood test, to test his poop and another tests.

Another problem is that he may be getting old. We were talking about how he was when i got him and all that and they told me that if he didn't grow being with me it was very very unlikely that he had only 3 or 4 months as they have told me at the pet shop, so he could be one year and a half at least.

I'm very pleased with this vet, as I said they look very professional and they cared a lot. It was a nice surprise to know that I have such a good vet around

Yesterday night I gave him his first round of meds and he didn't like them at all. He was very sweet as he was at the vet and he didn't bite, but I struggled a lot to give him the syringes. I think he is going to end up hating me.

This night he didn't come out either, but this morning at least he took a couple of nibbles of the baby food and he pouched again the sunflower seeds that I gave him, but not his mix. I hope that step by step he starts his recovery and be fully recovered soon.

Oh Hamsterita. Thank you for updating us on Blacky. I am sorry to hear that he is unwell, but very glad that you appear to have found a competent vet as they are like gold dust! Please don't think that he will hate you for making him take the meds. I promise he won't. Mushu forgot all about me making him take the nasty Baytril very quickly. You could try mixing his meds into porridge, baby food or wet cat food if he will take it that way. If he will, that would also give him some extra energy to build himself up with. But, if syringe feeding it is the only way which works then don't worry. I think your bond is too strong to be ruined by this. Blacky is a fighter and you are doing everything you can for him, so he has the best chance he possibly could have of pulling through.

I always enjoy hearing what Blacky has been up to and watching any videos, so please don't think that just because you don't have time to post on any other threads that you can't update Blacky's. I'm glad that your third exam went well, by the way.

I've spoke to you on instagram so you already know I'm wishing Blacky a speedy recovery, but I want to make sure Blacky has the best possible chance so I am also going to send lots of love and get well wishes on here because you can never have enough.

Take your medicine Blacky it's important. He won't hate you Hamsterita, maybe be a bit grumpy with you for making him take horrible medicine but he'll get over it

Ghost also says that Blacky has to get better as he has to teach Ghost the ways of the Blacky.....

Hamsterita I only learned that Blacky needed the vet from here. I am so sorry but very pleased that you have found an excellent vet. Very reassuring. Hope you can continue to get the meds down Blacky. 2 people can be needed and treats afterwards. Please let us know how he gets on.
