Re: Blacky's Thread - The Black Spanish Syrian Hamster
Yep, he scared the hell out of me. I know that it was my fault, and I'm very grateful that in the end everything turned out ok.
Today I talked to him and he's very excited because tonight we celebrate the three wise men (los reyes magos) and he was a good boy, so he probably is going to have a lot of gifts

Romeo escaped three times, before we figured out how :-S we had to keep him in his travel cage a full day while making a lid for his cage. He actually managed to climb up the water bottle :-O

Re: Blacky's Thread - The Black Spanish Syrian Hamster
Hope he enjoys los reyes magos! Naughty blacky escaping like that - and how clever! He probably scared himself and then got more scared by you sounding shocked lol! Glad he is ok. Charlie once got a bit stuck trying to climb up the back of his cage as it was so close the playpen wall His little head was sticking out at the top and I could see the panic coming over his face as he realised his body was stuck - so I moved the cage a bit and he climbed up.
I once saw the Los Reyes Magos festival in Barcelona - it's wonderful! Giant models and so colourful. Have fun.

That must have been quite a scare for both you and Blacky - so glad he is fine and you found him quickly. Blacky looks so handsome in that photo.
Hope that the both of you enjoy los reyes magos

Re: Blacky's Thread - The Black Spanish Syrian Hamster
Julie, three times???!!! Wow, he enjoys escaping. I'm glad you find what he was doing and that you too solved the problem.
Serendipity, all cities celebrate los reyes magos festival, but Madrid and Barcelona have the best ones. I saw once Madrid's parade an it was incredible. The city where I live is small, so the festival is not so fancy, but children really enjoy watching the camels, los reyes, and picking up sweets.
SKB, thanks, he knows how to pose when he wants

Re: Blacky's Thread - The Black Spanish Syrian Hamster
Today Blacky woke up and he found near his tank his Los Reyes Magos gifts.
Where I live we don't have fancy christmas safe things to put on hamster cages, but I wanted to make something special for him, so I just put a tiny christmas tree next to Blacky's tank and a christmas garland outside his tank. That way Los Reyes knew where to leave him his gifts (we have a regular tree for us downstairs on the living room).
It isn't much, but I hope he enjoys them. Los Reyes told me that they were thinking about getting him a new waterbottle too, but the small size wasn't available. I don't know if I believe them, maybe they didn't want him to have it because he was a naughty boy when he escaped
Gifts close up pic:
A bag of sunflower seeds (he already approved this one)
Two walnuts in their shell
A bag of Versele Laga Nutties, his favourite treats
More rocks for his tank (I don't know If he would be very pleased with them tbh hahaha)
Two homemade platforms for his tank (on the photo there is only one, but he has two)
And a new sandbath container, much bigger and deeper than his older one, because he really loves to dig on his sandbath.
And that's all. The Holidays ended for us too now

Lucky Blacky what a great selection of gifts he has there I'm sure he deserved them all even if he did try to escape, though I'm sure he just thought he was going on an adventure

Oh that looks fun! We celebrate the Wise Men too, though on the 6th January. Blacky looks like he got some nice gifts though!
