Re: All About My Pumpkin
Another fan of porridge! Lovely sounding mix SKB, that should do her a lot of good over the cold months.

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Sounds like a really lovely playtime SKB & Pumpkin is clearly enjoying life & porridge
I do tend to put a few odd things in porridge when I make it too but I never thought of mealworms, maybe because we all share it

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Thank you pinkneon, Coco61, cypher and Thin Lizzy. Pumpkin definitely enjoyed her playtime and gourmet porridge - I didn't know whether she would like porridge as Pumpkin can be a little fussy but she left an empty bowl so she must be a fan of porridge and it was the perfect time to get photos as she was sitting still for long enough. I tend to mix treats, like seeds, grated nuts, mealworms, or grated/mashed fruit and veg into the porridge as it a special treat.

Dried mealworms work well in hamster porridge as they absorb some water and soften a little - and as Pumpkin loves mealworms so I thought she would appreciate some in her porridge. Probably not the best treat to include if you will be sharing it to though.

Re: All About My Pumpkin
I only added the seeds as I didn't know if Sweep would like it lol. Didn't even think of adding fruit - what do you add? Would dried fruit work too?

The only fruit I have put in porridge is a little bit of banana - I did this for Sherbet when she wasn't well and as she wasn't a fan of porridge I had to disguise it - she also liked carrot and grated walnut in her porridge to. But any fruit or treats that Sweep enjoy you can add. I haven't put dried fruit in porridge myself but don't see a problem putting a small amount of dried fruit in.

Re: All About My Pumpkin
I must try Harvey again with porridge, with some grated walnut and carrot.
I've never added anything to the porridge before.

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Updates - Pumpkin’s Progress, Playtime and Whimzee Photos
Pumpkin continues to make such great progress with taming and her confidence and our bond is continuing to grow – she doesn’t mind being picked up, cuddled, stroked and hand fed – today she climbed onto my hand when I placed it in her cage and began climbing up my arm wanting more cuddles and treats. Today I realised that I have had Pumpkin for 4 weeks – the time has flown by as it feels like I have had her longer than that. Pumpkin has still been loving her playtimes – continuing to enjoy running around half of my room although the carpet is still very tempting for her to chew – so I have to lay cardboard in the areas she chews which she soon chews up so she can reach the carpet again – so my floor get covered in pieces of cardboard. Other than trying to chew the carpet she does enjoy playing with all her other toys, running in her bucket wheel, her sand bath as well as climbing over me. Pumpkin is very sweet natured and friendly although she did accidently nip my finger on Tuesday – as she was lured to the carpet which my hand was on – it was a little nip but she did look so innocent afterwards.
Pumpkin still enjoys watching me and always comes out to see me when I’m near her cage – I talk to her and she sit there listening with the most adorable expression on her face. She even awakes from her sleep to see me even when she still half asleep and if I ask her if she is tired, she will run back to her nest – which is so sweet.
Pumpkin loves chewing at the moment her favourite chew currently is the Burgess Excel Gnaw Sticks – in which she enjoys stripping the bark from the sticks and has even has one is her nest which I occasionally hear her chewing on – although she does still chew on the bars but it has reduced slightly.
During her playtime the other day I tried distracting her from chewing my carpet with a whimzee hedgehog – it only distracted her for a little while however I did manage to get a few cute photos.
