Thought she really deserved her win last month and I love your choice for this month’s focus. Mushu used to groom all the time and it was wonderful to watch him. I only wish I had any pictures that were truly in focus so that I could remember it better

Homegrown strawberries how deliciois, lucky girl

Thanks for linking me back to your knuff shelf info SKB, it looks good. For now I've put one in for Max, I've left it in one piece for now (not removed the bottom bit) and the bedding is right up to the top so he just needs to walk on to it rather than climb up, think it will be better a bit higher though so might end up using the 2, will see how he gets on with it this week

My Birthday Cuddles from Pumpkin

I was really spoilt by Pumpkin on my birthday to lots and lots of wonderful Pumpkin cuddles. Late Tuesday evening/really early Wednesday morning I was sitting near Pumpkin’s cage replying to some threads (unfortunately they were lost when the server went down) as well as watching Pumpkin. When it went midnight, she would normally disappear of to bed instead she was staring at me demanding cuddles – obviously wanted to make sure she was the first to wish me a happy birthday – so off course I didn’t mind giving her lots of cuddles and fuss. As it was getting late and I had to be up early in the morning I had to keep her cuddle session shorter than I would have liked. So when I got into bed I was lying there listening to the most relaxing noise of Pumpkin feet pitter-pattering in her wheel – it was wonderful!
When I was getting ready Wednesday to go out for my birthday I was both surprised and delighted to see Pumpkin was awake (it was very unlike her – as I don’t usually see her in the morning or during the day often) – sometimes during the day she likes to be left alone and doesn’t want to be handled but I thought I would offer her my hand. In my amazement she climbed into my hand and we had some cuddles. I also gave her some mealworms for her to snack on during the day.

I had a long day out for my birthday and enjoyed the nice summery warm weather which was lovely. When I returned home and was eating my dinner I could hear a lot of noise coming from my bedroom – I had one guess to where the noise was coming from – Pumpkin off course! So I went to investigate the noises to see what mischief Pumpkin was getting herself into, but Pumpkin was nowhere to be seen. So I was a little confused especially when it went totally silent so I waited a little while and the noise returned. Upon calling Pumpkin’s name I saw a little noise appearing through the Fitch and she quickly emerged from behind her bucket wheel. It was only just after 8pm and a little early for her cuddle time – but as soon as I asked if she wanted her cuddle time and offered her my hand she quickly hopped on and started to climb my arm. Pumpkin had an earlier cuddle time than usually and off course I didn’t mind – so we had lots of cuddles and Pumpkin got to enjoy a piece of strawberry. I keep her out for the same amount of time as usual so she was returned to her cage earlier than usual. When I went to my bedroom in the evening Pumpkin was fast asleep in her house – I think all these special cuddles Pumpkin had given me on my birthday had tired herself out – although her head emerged from her house for a little bit and I thanked her for making my birthday extra special. Now I have to make sure I now make Pumpkin’s 1st Birthday is extra special for her – I have decided her birthday will be on the 30th July (as she was roughly around 8 weeks when I adopted her) and she will also be spoilt on her 1 year adoption anniversary on the 24th September too.


House Peeing Again

On another note Pumpkin has decided to start peeing in her house again – this is why I don’t see her much during the day at the moment – as she been deciding instead of coming out of her house to have a pee that she can just do it in her house. The last time she peed in her house I thought it was a one of thing as she went back to peeing in her sand, so I’m hoping she does the same this time too. At the moment I’m using a cardboard box as her house but have put a small corner food bowl (similar to the rodipet ones) with some sand in the corner of the house where she have been digging down to pee in. At least when she has been peeing inside her house she is digging down so she not peeing directly where she been sleeping. I have my fingers crossed that she returns to using her sand bath rather than her house to pee in.


Home-grown Fruit Tasting

As well as enjoying her home-grown strawberries this week Pumpkin has been spoilt with some small pieces of other home-grown fruit – freshly picked from both the garden and my dad’s allotment. Here is Pumpkin's review for the fruit she has gotten to try:

• Cherry – At first Pumpkin didn’t seem overly keen on the cherry, had a little nibble and that was it. But then she decided to grab it and started to run off with it. So I think she approves of cherries – although not as good of reaction as she had with strawberries.
• Raspberry – These were a favourite out of the fruit I tried her with this week, she started to eat it before deciding to return to the comfort of her hideout to eat it with some privacy .
• Blackcurrant – when I offered this to her she quickly grabbed it out of my hand before losing all interest in it. So she doesn’t like these – well I don’t blame her as I don’t like them either.
• Loganberry (a blackberry/raspberry hybrid) – no interest in this at all

Pumpkin will get to get her first taste of home-grown blueberries maybe this week or next – Pumpkin loved blueberries that were store bought and would snatch them from my fingers so I looking forward to seeing her reaction to home-grown ones.

It's hard to believe Pumpkin's birthday is coming around so soon, I have no doubt it will be a wonderful day for her
Pumpkin has been lucky to have all that lovely home grown fruit to choose from! I don't think I've ever tried mine with raspberries, might have to give that a go as a special treat sometime, you must have a very different climate in your part of the UK, mine will be lucky to have home grown blueberries by the end of July!

Fingers crossed the house peeing is only temporary & Pumpkin goes back to using her sand soon.

Glad to hear that Pumpkin made your birthday special for you! Somehow she must have known I am jealous of both you and Pumpkin, getting home grown fruit. In my old house, we had a cherry tree and the cherries were so much nicer than shop bought ones.

Not sure what to suggest about peeing in the house. Maybe you could try moving some of the soiled bedding to her sand bath?

Aww! Pumpkin definitely sensed you had a special anniversary, your birthday and I just love how she made sure she was the first to wish you a wonderful day. Those cuddle times are so special to share with our little ones. And the pitter patter of their little feet on the wheel is a sound I love too.
