Re: All About My Pumpkin
That went so well, so soon too! She really is coming on so quickly & having loads of fun by the sound of it, no wonder she quickly fell asleep

Re: All About My Pumpkin
I’m so proud of her as I didn’t expect for her to brave venturing onto my hands in our first session – I did allow her to walk back into the playpen as soon as she went on my hand which I will gradually extend the time she is in my hand as taming progresses. As Pumpkin cage was inside the playpen she could decide when she had enough of taming – she stayed out for 40 mins before going back – but as soon as the door shut she wanted to come back out – typical but I told her she will have to wait until tomorrow.

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Aww so happy your first taming went well. My heart melted at her not wanting to go back in the cage and that she was fast asleep in her nest a short while later.
That's one happy ham.
Will need to check out The Range website.

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Thank You Serendipity7000 and Thin Lizzy - I'm so glad our first taming session went well.
Today Pumpkin had her second taming session, she didn't brave climbing into my hands but did think about it - but from experience with my past Syrians they did take few step back in taming - but she was having fun running around the playpen, scent marking all her toys and searching for hidden treats. Pumpkin was having fun which is important.
How many dried mealworms would it be ok to feed Pumpkin a day/ or per week? - As I have been using a dried mealworm to encourage her to go back in her cage in which she eats in the cardboard box as she is being transported back to her cage.
Today I have put a sand bath in Pumpkin's cage for the first time - she has really enjoyed digging in it but has kicked some sand although most still remains in her sand bath - which is a surprise - she has also used it as a toilet too.

Re: All About My Pumpkin
It is only natural for taming to take steps back as well as forward but the overall process is still going forward & Pumpkin sounds to be doing really well & enjoying herself, the sand bath must have been a real treat for her!
I'm not really sure about the amount of mealworms a syrian can have tbh, a little bit more than usual of a favourite thing during taming sessions doesn't usually hurt though.

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Thank You to you both. Pumpkin has definitely been enjoying her sand bath - she loves digging in it and surprised by how she is using at a toilet already. Today taming session went really well and I’m so proud of the progress she making. Pumpkin climbed into my hand 3 times during our session today – before finding the courage she gave my hand a good sniff and had a long think about it initially she decided to continue scent marking every toy in her playpen – but once she found her courage she braved climbing into my hands although was a little nervous, as I could feel her shaking but she relax the next times she was in my hands. She had a nice tasty dried mealworm as a reward – these are one of her favourites at the moment along with linseeds. It is so nice seeing her enjoying herself in the playpen – this makes me smile. Also today I got Pumpkin new wheel, a 28cm Trixie wheel, in which I got same day delivery on Amazon – so pleased I got the colour I wanted, the green and blue one - she will be having it in her playpen during taming until I put it in her cage.

Re: All About My Pumpkin
Thanks pinkneon. Out of the other colours of the Trixie wheel I prefer that colour as it more bright and colourful than the others especially as my last one was all black, which I really disliked.
