Orion the Constellation Butt
Allow me to officially introduce Orion!
A week ago I finally decided to get a hamster. I spent all day rounding up supplies to get things ready before coming home with my very own fluffer butt. It just so happened that after we stopped for dinner I would meet the little guy who would make my heart melt. I was peaking into the displays at the Petco near the restaurant and I saw a gorgeous white speckled ball. I loitered around the store for a bit until I almost gave up on him waking up before the store closed. Suddenly, he stretched and climbed out of the little house he was in. I was crouched down looking into the cage and he came right up to me and put his paws on the glass where my fingers were. I knew I had to bring him home.
After a 20 minute car trip filled with anxiety of getting him home safely, I was able to get his cage set up and him settled in. It's been about a week and a half and I have since upgraded his cage to a larger (but not quite large enough) Ferplast Favola.
I love my little constellation butt and I am so glad to have him in my home. I can't wait to share his adventures on here!

Re: Orion the Constellation Butt
He is adorable! I especially love his little face on that first photo. And I like your title description "constellation butt" Lol!
The Favola is such a lovely cage it is such a pain it is not bigger. He is probably fine in there for now but could do to be upgraded at some point as he grows. It would make a nice play cage for when you're doing cage cleans, or even a travel cage, later. It probably only has a 6" wheel as well, which is the problem with most commercial cages as Syrians need a bigger wheel so they can run with a straight back. I can't quite see how that wheel attaches but the gap in the middle looks big enough for a larger wheel to stand on the floor and come up through the gap.

I actually have a larger wheel coming! I have a little play pen (in attached picture) that I put him in for an hour or so at night and he runs like crazy on the flying saucer wheel he has in there. Tbh I don't think he has even used the wheel that's in the cage at all. =[

I've probably said it elsewhere before, but he is absolutely gorgeous! There is a major bonus to having the cage, and that is that it makes an awesome carrier and temporary cage for cleaning and stuff like that Such an awesome cage design though,it would be awesome if more cage manufacturers took inspiration but made cages that had deeper bases and more floor space as well.

Re: Orion the Constellation Butt
Love the playpen - it looks fun He probably won't use the smaller wheel if it feels too small for him. Although our giant hamster still tried to run in a 6" wheel when we first got him. I didn't know about wheel sizes then but some instinct told me it didn't look right, so I googled it and found Hamster Central.

Hamsters may not be quite as smart as rats, but they're at least intelligent enough to know obvious things most of the time Of course,if a ham wants to run a ham wants to run!
