Well so I don't break Forum rules and hijack someone Else's thread.
This Saturday I collected a very young Syrian from a gal who purchased a Male hamster only to find he was a she and very pregnant. The thing that attracted my attention was this pups very interesting coat color, and that she was Satin. She was the only pup to survive as they were clueless at how to deal with pups so this little gal is very blessed to make it to weaning.
Well I paid the gal and took the little madame home. She was not bitey but was Very very jumpy as she had not one bit of handling and they didn't even know she was female. I picked her up easily enough at their home, and quickly placed her in a carrier which had a little cardboard carrier box which I figured may keep her calm on the drive home. I was running a little late for my Prayer service so when I got home I quickly went to put her in the tank I had set up earlier. Well when I went to get her out she leaped straight up and cleared my hand and arm and hit the soft carpeted floor and took off at a full run.
She ran under my PC Corner mount Desk and went out of sight for about 2 minutes, but then I saw her and crawling over the bottom shelf of the desk I went to grab her, but she was so untame she bolted and last I saw was her shiny behind disappear into a hole in my 100Year old House. I said a few words of which I had to repent of, but had to head to prayer service as that is very important to me and my Husband. I couldn't do anything to get to the hamster as the walls in this house go straight Up to a second floor , and straight down to the Basement and once in the walls it is like a huge Tube setup.
So I quickly set smelly food in the tank she was to go in and though she was young I grabbed a handful of Lavi's wee corner so she may come out to Male smell when in heat. I then used the screen cover to make a ramp to the edge of the tank. Added in a WW baited with 3 bits of Dry cat food so if she was in the trap I'd hear the kibble rattle even if I was upstairs in the bedrooms. Quickly grabbed the cat and locked her in the spare bedroom. She doesn't like eating Hamsters but she will carry them all about as her kittens and the last thing this pup needed was more stress.
While at Prayer service we all said a Prayer to the Lord to help the baby Hamster find her way to the tank trap and that I would find her happily running on the WW in the tank. That was Thursday Night.
Came home and no hamster in the tank, and no sign of her anywhere. Mind you in the many years of hamster raising in this house I have had a total of 7 pups this pups age to escape either from my hands while hand taming, or finding a way out of the lid of a 20 gallon long tank, or being naughty Yellow boys and chewing a hole in the bottom of the bin UNDER the bedding where you didn't see the hole until I didn't see the 4 pups. NONE have ever been found after they went missing.
Friday was our Bible Study service and I was expecting the Lord to do what was asked, but Friday night there sat the still unoccupied trap tank, and still no sign of any hamster.
Same for Saturday night. Pastor asked If the Hamster had returned and by this time I was following what my Bible says and was Commanding God to fore fill his word. I actually demanded I find that Hamster in the tank when I got home, but Nope nothing. Well I know God loves the number Three so I thought Ah ha She will be in that trap Sunday night after evening service was over, and I quickly thanked him for meeting my prayers.
However we got home and there sat the empty tank yet again so I quickly re-reminded God that I believed and that he had to answer my Prayers. So at 9PM I sat down at my PC Desk and thought I saw something move in the Main entrance Foyer. I got up and walked to it and combed it clean but nothing was there. Then at 1:45AM Monday Morning, I knew I caught motion in that foyer from the corner of my eye. I looked at the door and just what do you think I saw?
That little brat was sitting there just staring me down Daring me to try and catch her. She then made a Huge error. She dashed for the Heat vent in the Foyer which is solid and no holes. She bolted left, she bolted right, but she had no way to get out except into my hands.
God had answered My Prayers and I am sure many on this forum that read about her escape did too. He heard us and Little darling is now safely locked behind Glass and a locking mesh top. Since there is plenty of moisture in the interiors of our walls she wasn't even dehydrated, and wasn't even dirty.
She was however VERY mad at the solid walls confining her from her marvelous super dooper huge Habitrail house. I do believe she also thought she could just pouch up food and head on out to the walls too. She doesn't have a name yet but after she calmed down a bit I got these two pictures of her for you all to see.
I want to Thank God for allowing her to be safe and to be able to climb up the walls and out of the hole in the wall as that is why the others her age died as once in they couldn't climb back out cause the walls were too wide for them to climb. And Folks I can't tear out the walls cause they are beam supports to hold the whole house up.
For a basic idea of her size that is a WW Jr she is chewing
