Re: Pippins thread
Pip's new Trixie wheel (28cm) arrived today so swapped it over with her old one ever since I had to take the front off the old one she hasn't really used it very much, hopefully the new one will fare better, she has already been out to inspect it...
On a different note, I noticed today that Pip's lower teeth instead of growing straight together they are parting at the top and her teeth look a little like the capital letter Y, she is eating fine and chewing her Whimzees and other things in her cage, just wondering whether to take her to see the vet and maybe getting her teeth trimmed, if I can get a pic of her teeth then I will do so and post here.

Re: Pippins thread
Hi Rads, it sounds like the same situation I have with Mocho. My vet has shown me his teeth on each recent visit to review Cushings. The bottom two teeth are slightly splayed because one is slightly loose. My vet ( an exotics specialist) has not trimmed them yet. He said this is common in older hamsters. So long as they are eating properly the length will be kept under control naturally. I use those long hanging treats by Vitacraft or similar to keep an eye on his knawing ability. I don't interfere with his hoard that much!

Hi Coco,
I use the hanging treats for Pip and she normally destroys them in short order, or will go back to them over a few weeks and chobble off fairly large pieces, she has many different items in her cage to chew all with different textures etc. She has a Seed bowl which I get from Wilko and she does like that , as it bits for her to attack with her teeth.
Thanks for putting my mind at rest, I will keep a closer eye on her aswell.

Re: Pippins thread
It is good to keep an eye on the teeth when they get like this. My vet has a rodent skull and showed me the proper proportions of upper and lower teeth. If those long lower teeth do not get properly worn with eating then it is like an overbite. At worst, if not spotted those lower teeth end up growing up into the roof of the mouth. Obviously a trim is needed before that. It doesn't sound as though the gorgeous Pip has a problem yet!

Re: Pippins thread
Aww Pip stashing her food in her cave and playing hide and seek - total bliss.
And a new wheel too, she's so spoilt and deservedly so.

Re: Pippins thread
I think that that must be something quite normal. I was worried too about Blacky's teeth and apparently they're just fine. He has his teeth exactly as you described, the bottom ones at the bottom are together, but as they grow they start to be more apart from each other. And then the top ones are longer on the sides and shorter in the middle, creating some short of l^l shape. I suppose that as long as they can eat properly we shouldn't be too worried, but I usually check how are they're doing anyway.

Re: Pippins thread
Hi Folks,
Pip has had quite an evening of exploring from being in her ball to scooting about the sofa with its Blanket mountain, and then once all doors where closed she had the hallway all to self with being in her ball, boy did she like it, I popped her back in her cage for a while as I wanted to check the images I had shot, she just sat by the cage door wanting to come out again...!
She has given me some of her best poses tonight too..!
Here I am on the Grey Blanket Mountain....
This me coming out from under the grey mountain....
My human says I look the cutest thing in this Picture...
This is me trying my Hamophone.... Harvey are you there??? Blacky is it nice in Spain???

Re: Pippins thread
Those are beautiful pics of gorgeous Pip. My favourite one (if it's even possible to have a favourite) is the one of her coming out from under the grey blanket mountain, too cute That is quite the camera you have there Rads, it looks very complicated (to me anyway!)

Re: Pippins thread
AWWWWW Lovely pics as usual!!!!!! but I think that these ones are even better if possible!! I agree with Boris, but I love the second one too, I couldn't decide which one is best. You should print them! They are fabulous. I think that I've never mentioned but I love Pips hears. Their colour reminds me of the patches of a giraffe, and are so cute.
Hey Pip!
It's me Blacky! Wow that Big Flashy thing is HUGE! You're very brave, I don't think I could go and explore such a big thing without being afraid! Tell me the truth, you were hiding under the grey mountain so the big Flashy thing couldn't see you, weren't you?? Sorry that I didn't answer the HamoPhone, I was in the bathroom taking a sand-shower. If I can I'll borrow my pink human "cell" and call you back, sometimes it vibrates and at the beginning it scared me, but now I'm totally over it and I even like to run over it, it's easy to unblock it with our paws
See ya Pip!
