Squeaking?!
Sweep has just been squeaking for the past few minutes. It's kind of like the noise you get (sorry about this!) when you have a really blocked nose and you're trying to blow it ... He has just woken up I think, and I've not been over to the cage yet today ... I've never heard this sound before from any hammy! Is he ok??

Re: Squeaking?!
Sweep is trying to get your attention to give him some yummy treats or something along those lines, I'm sure that is perfectly normal, especially a new hammie while your just getting to know each other.

Re: Squeaking?!
Maybe he's been dreaming. Just check he's ok in case he has hurt himself on something, but some hamsters are more vocal than others
Charlie has only squeaked twice - once when he was scared and once when he hurt himself, but if it's squeaking for no reason he could be just being vocal.

Re: Squeaking?!
Ok thanks. I went over to him and he came over to say hello! I let him have a peanut in it's shell, which he happily ate. He then came over to me and put his little paws on my hand just as I was trying to take it out the cage! I think he was trying to shake hands LOL. So I stroked him a little and then let him have a 2 minute explore in his ball whilst I added a little more substrate (I'm hoping this will keep him warmer too!) and then put his toys back where they should be. I followed one of Erin's youtube videos, and mixed the old substrate with the new so he was pretty happy to go back in there. I have a couple of photos I shall put up when I've finished eating my lunch (NOM NOM!). He's having his lunch right now. Can hear him nibbling away
