I got her on Saturday 05/03 from our local Dobbies in Peterborough where I was actually purchasing a plant to put over Forrest's' last resting place in our garden.
I walked past the pets in the store and glanced at the Hamsters this little one took notice and came over to the front of the enclosure and looked me square in the eye..... Fate..????
I am estimating her age as about 6 weeks, the store could not give a birth date.

Re: Say Hello to Pippin
Aww bless! Sometimes I think they deliberately put the hamsters in a spot where they know us HC'ers will see them
Unusual they can't give a rough birth date though? Do you know how long she'd been there? Most pet shops won't take the babies in until about 6 or so weeks, some a little longer. Pet shop here no longer accepts babies under 7 weeks, so my little Sweep had only been there a week when I got him

Well the four hamsters in the cage where all approx. the same size so I assume that they where brothers and sisters, and they where all quite small Pippin can actually turn round in her tubes in the cage....

They were separated into male and female cage weren't they?!!! ... I love it when they are small enough to play with something, but then get sad when you have to take it away from them because they are too big!

Pinkneon,
No they weren't separated into girl and boy cages, and it took a few days before we could work out that Pippin is a girly

Ah ... You may need to watch over her for a bit, as they can get pregnant really young ... And maybe ring the shop and tell them they need to separate the babies!

When I got her I asked what sex she was and they couldn't tell me.. maybe they need more training..
I will keep an eye on her just in case, I can imagine my wife going spare if Pippin turned out to be in the family way.... It would make me laugh anyway..
