He is adorable! My Syrian won't sleep in a house but she doesn't sleep out in the open like that. That us very cute! When I've given Cleo a house she burrows a nest underneath and goes round the back to get in. She never uses the front door the house sort of ends up a roof for her burrow!

LOL. Hello cheekytita. Your little fluff is just adorable. I love all his sleeping positions. My Nutmeg did that when I first got her. It took a while before it occurred to her that she could sleep in the house. He's a beautiful fluffy hammy.

He does this too with his other hideout. P2 sleeps in all the four corners of his cage so I just placed this hideout with enough space from a corner to let him decide where he wants to sleep. And instead of sleeping in it, he just pulled it closer to his corner to give him cover. They are such cute creatures!

Thank you DrKMcK. I hope he finds his hideouts cozy as well because he's easily disturbed when people are in the living room and I leave him inside my room cause it's like oven in there during the day. But as long as he's comfortable, he can be the nomad that he is

P2 finally took notice of his mug hideout. Yay!

time for my midnight coffee. never fails to keep me up late at night.

it's really nice inside.

since when was this in here?

i wish i could a take better quality pictures of P2 but my phone becomes really crappy at times. pft. anyway, i noticed that the mug is a bit small for P2 so i'll have to find a bigger one since it seems that ceramic is the kind of material he likes as a hideout. perhaps, it's really because of the warm weather here.

i did something horrible the other day. so i've been getting P2 out of his cage lately and let him play on the sofa, and also to tame him. he was just calm and curious at first exploring every inch of the sofa so i thought 'he's such a calm little fella. i can handle this.' but on the third or fourth day he was running.. wild and free... very move-y.. like he was ready to jump out of the sofa any moment. like all this time he was plotting his escape. so when i was putting him down he jumped out of my hand and headed for what seemed to me a quick escape. i panicked and all i could just think then was "don't let him get away!" so stupid me tried to grab and (this is the part where i really hate myself) i caught him by his fur.

i immediately cupped him in my hands and saw the fear in his face. it was so heartbreaking. i placed him inside his cage and then there i saw stuck on my thumb.. i pulled out his fur. that's when i started to cry. i felt really really horrible. i hurt him. i kept saying sorry and gave him some treats. while crying. i new i should just leave him for a while but i couldn't. i tried to pet him while giving him treats and he lets me so i thought yeah we're good. but i still felt really horrible. the next night i learned my lesson and built him a cardboard playpen instead. ugh. why was i so stupid.

He looks really sweet in the mug! They do enjoy ceramic hideouts if it's warm so maybe worth searching for a nice big one somewhere.
You're not alone in having a panic grab at your ham when you thought he was going to do a runner, it does happen when they race off or unexpectedly fall you just react without time to think so don't beat yourself up over it, he sounds fine & it doesn't seem to have scared him too much.
Try & make a completely safe ham area, barricade part of the room off with cardboard, piles of books or whatever you have so he can enjoy a run around without you having to worry he might escape.
