Post Good and sad news.

We might as well start of with the sad news.
Jasper has passed away he was about 1 1/2 but I never really knew exactly how old he was the vet said it was a natural death as I had him checked to
see if it was anything bad but he just said it was natural

As for the good ish news:

I got a call this morning from a woman that would not tell me who she was or
even where she was she sounded quite distraught, she said that the man who
owned Moon's pet shop also had a private collection of hamsters that had
been rescued and that there was a lot of hamsters that needed adopting.

But that because of the amount there they only had enough for all of the
hamsters but one and that they where going to put that one down.

At that point in the conversation she hung up on me. @.@

So there I was still half asleep at 9am with a hamster that seemed to be in a
dire situation......

Come 10am I decided that I had the room and if I did nothing I would be
guilty the rest of my life.

So of I went yet again x.x

When I go there I could see there where a lot of hamsters and that they
where being well cared for. One hamster was in a cage that still had tags on it
and looked like it had been taken out of there little shop completely different
to the other well used cages.

I did ask a member of staff and they said that that one will most likely be
taken to another shelter as it did not get along with the others at all and
there was no more space for it and they could only have a certain amount at
one time....

When I said that I could take that one as I was looking for a hamster her
attitude changed COMPLEATLY and I was showered in "thank you so much!"
and "are you sure" and "you have saved us a lot of effort".

When she put "him" in the carry cage I had brought and went back to the little
shop aria with the till, the shop had about three members of staff in it she
said rather loudly "she would like this one".

Another staff member said " I am so glad you got that one" and another
said "Don't tell the boss I gave you this" as she handed me a Burgess bag of
herbs. @.@

So now I have a new hamster with some new treats. boy todays been just one
of "those" mornings

Also when I got back he is actually a she.

I will post some pictures later right now I don't want to stress her out.

As for that phone call and weather or not she was ever in any real danger....
I'm not sure but at least now I know she is safe.

If I was you I would place Her on Pregnancy watch as when Hims don't get along with others and he is actually a her that usually means She was originally kept with other Hims and because She is pregnant is why He didn't get along with the other Hims

So sorry for your loss of Jasper they do leave us so soon but glad it was from old age and Jasper had a wonderful life until he was called home.

Do you often get anonymous calls to rescue hamsters like this at all hours?

Well done and congratulations anyway. My condolences on the loss of Jasper though x

@ Nancy: She is on pregnancy watch they said as soon as she was put in any off the cages she would fight like really bad so I am worried that she might have internal problems or maybe she is already pregnant fingers crossed she is not and is ok though.
@ Keith: Thank you I do try its sad to see jasper go as I have had him for quite a while.
@ Brain: This was my first hamster related rescue call that was anonymous lets just hope it was the last x.x

Low and behold the little fuzz ball wandered out of her snooze den and came up to the glass putting her paws up on it and looking at me so I went and opened the door so she could sniff me, She hopped straight on my hand! and after five minutes when to sleep on my lap q.q

I managed to get a quick snap of her for you <3

Hmmm How old does she look?

I'm sorry to hear about jasper but what a lovely story! How cool it was that the lady (sounds like she could have been the lady if the pet shop who was concerned) thought of you to give that little one a home. I'd have been a little scared if I got a call like that but yes like you I'd be straight down there to see what was up. Looking forward to seeing pictures! Have you any names yet?

Awh look at her she is so cute! She must have been fairly well handled amazing that she is not nervous at all with you and a change of environment. Poor wee thing, just was glad to get out of that place. How to tell how old she is, if she has some hairs on her ears then she is young but how young I don't know.

@ GSH: Yeah I think she must of been one of the staff when I got moon because I remember talking about my diy hamster cage and stuff like that plus where else would she have gotten my number from?

Also just for you another picture:

As for names I have no idea I was thinking maybe Opal but I am not a fan so much of it

GHD: They said that she had not been handled at all that's why I think it was odd that she allowed me not only to pet her but to hold her do you have any idea what that colour is I called? my friend asked on the phone and I said Tri coloured but im not sure if that is what you call it with hammy's @.@

It defo sounds like it. She is really beautiful! I absolutely love her colouring, she is banded with the black and brown all mixed through. I've just shown her to mum and she thinks she is lovely also (I'm crazy hamster person! And mum knows lol) this is another reason why I'd love to live in England you have breeders and so many more colours and variations to choose from I have a few names picked out for myself lol for future hammies but if you like any of these two which I think suit her really well you'd be welcome to have one: willow or acorn?? I particularly love acorn myself especially this time of year too
