Good point Artisans - and assume you mean the 12" one - I sent mine back because it didn't spin very well. How about getting him a California Storm wheel? or a 27cm senior wodent wheel? They are both good.

I agree about the Carolina wheel. It can be used by the very biggest hamster, it's really quiet and it comes in 2 styles, one is on a stand and the other fits onto a barred cage. I prefer the one on the stand myself.
I just read this whole thread and I can't imagine how hard this was for you and the little ham. I have taken my hams to visit my friends and to my sister's house if I am staying there for a long visit. However, I'd personally never take my hams to a pet shop because of the risk of disease. When I bring a new hammy home it is quarantined for 2 weeks so I don't spread any illness to my current hams. I am really happy he seems to be getting over all this.

*nods* Thanks for the info on all the different wheels. I will be looking over them all tonight and choosing one soon. I am aware about the problems with the silent spinner. Cujos was working perfectly, it has been oiled, and was perfect, now it wakes both Ryan and i up repeatedly at night. We leave Cujo be, because its not his fault, but it is annoying. Might switch out his wheel at the same time i get Tiggs one. Tiggs has a flying saucer, and he*kind of* gets the concept, but he hasn't quite mastered it yet. Its cute to watch him think about it. Tiggs i do believe will be staying in the bin for some time, at least until he outgrows it, when Ryan and i might get him a large tank, so i will need a wheel that comes with a good stand. I like that wheels can be attatched to barred cages, thats personally my preferred method of use, because it takes up less room in the cage, and can be adjusted to any height for the smallest of hamsters or tallest of them as well as to the depth of the bedding and such. Will be looking at those wheels, and tiggs is undergoing taming, hes still so sweet, but hes cautious as well. Such a cutie. Pics to come soon! (im gonna try to figure out how to put a little video of him here)
