You did the right thing removing the tubes, Hubble doesn't look too bothered. He's so blooming cute!

Awww bless him, he's looking quite brave exploring his home properly at last!
I think he may be having too much fun to be stressed for long
It does look as though he could do with a bit more substrate in there, if you can just fill the base up & let him have lots of digging or tunneling fun!

Shannon, love the Sports Direct shot! I love the look on her face. It looks like she means serious business, haha!

Thanks for the help, cypher. I definitely need to add some more substrate. I misjudged when I set up the cage, and it's a lot less than it seemed when I poured it in.

Happy to report that Hubble seems a lot more active and happier in general since removing the tubes. I'm not sure why. Maybe because it's forced him to take a look around and find all the fun things he can do. I heard him running on the wheel for ages last night, and he's made a nest in his hut. A few minutes ago, I saw him pop out for a bit and go foraging for the food I scattered in the substrate. He looked like he was having a blast!

Made some progress with Hubble this evening. He took some cucumber from me, as well as a treat, so I tried coaxing him into his ball. He walked right on in without any hesitation, and then had his first real roll around in it. He went on a big explore and kept rolling up to me every now and then. He's such a cutie.

Sounds as though your little guy is settling in well now & beginning to get quite tame already, well done to both of you!

For the past ten minutes, Hubble has been on a serious mission to stuff all of the tissue bedding into the Sports Direct mug. Substrate and tissue are flying around everywhere. He already has a nest where he's been sleeping the past two days so not sure what he's up to, but he's very intent on fitting it all in there!

We're not supposed to know what it means sometimes, it's beyond our understanding so long as he's having a good time!

Totally agree, there's no knowing what goes on their little heads sometimes but he's obviously enjoying setting up home!
