Re: Please may we present-Jarvis and Mocho...
The tube he nests in is the large one he is sitting on in the first photo. It is about 30cms long. I think he went there because he was sleeping in a Pringles tube before. I will get my husband to cut off any smelly end if need be!
Luckily the big house has no floor and I now have a bendy bridge. I remember your cage tour and what you did for Charlie. He has been in downstairs and it would fit his litter tray.
I will have a go at the changes later and then I hope not to have to change things for a bit so he will settle down properly.

I was a bit cheeky with Charlie's house - it was the only nesting option in the cage really so it had to be first choice lol.

Re: Please may we present-Jarvis and Mocho...
Thank you Ruby and Nienna. I put the wheel in last night and he was very cautious about the changes. I found his wee spot and it was not in his cardboard tube so I don't have to worry about that. I heard Jarvis is using his potty all of his own accord. It seems like the younger generation are quicker off the mark again!

Glad he is using his new wheel! Charlie is using his too. He investigated it very carefully, had a little run and kept stopping to sniff the edges of the hole and to inspect the axle bar - think he has it sussed now.

What a gorgeous hammy. 8 weeks old? Is it my imagination or is he a really nice big hammy? I really love his coloring.

Re: Please may we present-Jarvis and Mocho...
Update-Putting the wheel in his cage changed everything. He does not come out so early but is learning he will get a treat when he does. I have seen no bar chewing or climbing. I can gently scoop him up and handle him and let him run on me.. However if I put him in his play area he heads for the salt pig and settles down in it ignoring all the toys! Once I have put him back and the lights go out - then I hear the wheel!
Trying to be patient and take it at his pace. He has only been here 2 weeks.
Dr K - thank you, I think he is a lovely colour. The keeper of the 2 litters was his brother and was noticeably bigger even that age. I must get some scales and weigh him so I know how he is doing.
