Sand bath for long haired syrians?
At the weekend I brought home Albert and Basil - two long haired syrians which I totally fell in love with (I've always had a real soft spot for the long haired ones but I've rarely seen them for sale where I live, so choosing between the two was a total nightmare for me.. hence having both of them).
Should I give them a sand bath? I was watching videos on their care and I heard mixed reviews on how best to care for them. I imagined that the sand would just get stuck in their fur and hadn't really considered giving them one, until somebody reccomended it. So I thought I'd check here what other people with long haired syrians do?

Re: Sand bath for long haired syrians?
I have a few large plastic boxes I keep on stand by as spare too - they really are supposed to be back ups in case my roborovskis fall out, but it's just so much temptation! I've ended up ordering another Barney cage for Basil. I can't find any mesh which doesn't feel rough and horrible so I really don't like bin cages for syrians (with the robos I'd be happy to just leave the lids off)

Re: Sand bath for long haired syrians?
I know! I have a hamster heaven and a barney in my bedroom; a barney, zoozone 2 and a tank in the 'office'. It will probably have to go in my bedroom, after quite a bit of rearranging! I thought with a bin cage I could probably stack it because it's lighter. I don't think I'd stack two barneys though, just because I know the bases aren't the strongest.

Re: Sand bath for long haired syrians?
I really am a bit limited on space - we have a cat and a dog too, so having two rooms which they are now banned from feels a bit mean, I can't turn another room into a hamster room!
