HELP!!! My hammy has wet tail!

Today is Wednesday and I bought Luna on Sunday. She's been fine these few days but this afternoon when i checked up on her i found some diarrhea in her cage! I have not fed her anything other than her hamster food so I don't know what it could be! Please help!

Hello Addy. Wet tail needs a vet. The place where you bought her should have a vet and they should see her without charge as she is a new pet. Don't wait on this as young hammies can become very sick, very fast. I hope she is okay. Please let us know how she does.

I know I should be taking her to a vet, but I can't at the moment. I bought some wet-tail drops and just gave her the first dosage. I called the pet store and they said that I can bring her in and they can take care of her + the problem for a few days. Fingers crossed!

Addy, that's good of the pet store, they've probably realised that the other hamsters they have may also have wet tail. I would ask when you take Luna in.
Make sure that she's kept in a separate space and that they don't try and get you to take another hamster.

I took her back to the pet store and they said that around the time I took Luna home there was an outbreak of Wet Tail at the pet store, they said that they've separated the sick ones and are treating them together and Ive left Luna to be treated there too. I know they're not vets but they know more than I do so that gives me hope. Hopefully she gets better (and so do all the other hamsters) and Im able to bring her back home! Thank you for all the help guys!

Will you be able to recognise her?
Let's just hope them treating the sick ones together aren't a mix of male & female!

Im pretty sure they have them all separated, and if they give me another hamster that looks just like her, I guess I will never know. But for now, my main worry is that they all get better

Hey everyone, in case you were wondering, I picked up Luna today at the pet store! She's all better and so are the other hamsters! As it turns out, Luna is a boy!

so my brother got the honors of naming him, so we now have a hamster named Buster! I know I picked up the right hamster, because there were only 2 black males, and when he showed me the two I immediately knew which one was mine! Id know Buster from a mile away. While we were at the pet store, we bought a brand new cage. Its a tank with a second story cage. Buster is fast asleep but I can't wait until he wakes up and goes exploring

Just curious ......How do you ID a black hamster? They all are black, and have white paws.
Did they actually put Buster/Luna back in with his/her brother while treating them all? I'm glad you have a much healthier Hamster back home but I would be very angry for the store placing my already bought hamster in with the others. What if yours didn't have what the ones at the store had? Well I thank God your hamster was OK and is now back home with you.
