Hi guys, this is Otto, he's about 3 months old now. He was given to me as my secret santa gift at work, the most random and adorable present I have ever received. He's very sweet and gentle but stares at you for longer than is needed, little wierdo

If anyone knows what the name for his coat colouring is I'd really like to know, he obviously a long haired syrian but Im not all clued up on the colouring terms given to hamsters.

I have no idea, he has so many colours to his coat. Not that it matters because he's a little stunner, its just nice to know I suppose :')

It really was, I was expecting a mug or something normal. Safe to say I didnt do much work after finding this little fella in my box :')

Wow - I got socks for my Secret Santa

(really nice ones though, they're fluffy with penguins on them). Maybe it's just me, I love love love hamsters and everyone knows it at work, but if I got one as a secret Santa gift I'd be upset. It seems irresponsible as there are cages and accessories and time for the animal and all sorts of things to consider and the person might not really want the hamster but feel obligated to look after it. Had you been talking about wanting a hamster at work? I'm glad it's worked out for the best though and you're happy. I'm guessing your secret Santa is someone who knows you very well

But I'm glad RubyDG said that 'cause I was feeling all grinchy I'm afraid about the whole giving of an animal as a secret Santa so I'm glad it's not just me

Socks, a mug or a novelty hat are all just fine but a hamster?!

You've found the forum though so we know already he's going to have a great life but any kids reading this? Don't buy hamsters as surprises! It generally won't end well! But anyway, where was I? Oh yes, he's adorable

Otto looks to be an Umbrous Silver Gray Band Long hair. I too am glad he worked out for you but unless you had a to do with what gift your secret Santa was to acquire(I know at my work we had to make a list of at least three items we would love from our secret Santa) it really was not a wise choice for a gift, but it does seem you were thrilled.
