Re: Charlie's thread
Yes that's what I meant Cypher! Actually it wasn't the shrimp cookie he was demolishing, it was the mini rodent stick. I can't believe how much more relaxed and content he seems - I guess it is one thing to dig tunnels for the sake of it, and another to do it instead of having a house.

Re: Charlie's thread
Excellent news that Charlie is back to his chilled best. That new house looks terrific for him. A lift off roof is a must have for me next time.

Re: Charlie's thread
I've been wanting a lift off roof one for ages - I looked at all the Rodipet ones and rooms are supposed to be better for hammys, but with Charlie's track record of ignoring small houses I reckoned one big space might be better. It's higher than a labyrinth house as well (so he can sit up if he wants lol). Of course a shoe box would do the same thing! With the bottom cut out and the lid for a lid.

Re: Charlie's thread
I'm so happy for Charlie, he's finally relaxing and sounds very content with the changes you made.

Re: Charlie's thread
Thanks Thin Lizzy. He was happy enough before with his other big house although I do think he wanted a bit more space in it as the potty half filled it. This one is a little bit bigger and easier for me as well. When funds allow I might get a spare one! It comes 'flatpack' and the pieces fit together like a jigsaw. I reckon it could be useful if just one bit needs replacing now and then. And yes I did the same silly thing of sticking it in in the middle of a cage clean rather than waiting to plastikote it! His last house didn't get wee-stained though as the potty protected it and although he wee'd in his nest a little bit it never went near the edges.

Re: Charlie's thread
I got Charlie out tonight after leaving him alone for a few days since his house change. He didn't seem too pleased and was a bit skittish once out. He did sit in the crook of my arm for a stroke for a few minutes then wanted to be off and shot about quite quickly on the sofa, couldn't find where to go so went back in the tube. I gently tipped him out of the tube again and he sat on my knee for a minute or two then went under the blanket then out again and shot across to the far end of the sofa again then back in the tube. So I waited to see what he would do next. I waited, he waited, then he had a little stampy foot tantrum inside the tube as if to say "I want to go back now!" Once he's been out a few more times and got used to his new set up (which he seems to really like) I'm sure he'll be his chilled dopey self again.

Re: Charlie's thread
Oh dear, Charlie having a tantrum! Maybe he didn't want to be seperated from his new house after all, he did refurb it.

Re: Charlie's thread
lol! Charlie, he's got no problem making his feelings known, I'm sure he'll go back to his more chilled mood soon enough.
Ziggy always used to do the stamping feet thing if I offered him a treat he didn't want until he got something he actually approved of, it is so cute even though I know it means they really aren't too pleased about something!
Ditto what Piebald said too!
