Re: Charlie's thread
They have fitted me in at the new vet today instead, which is good, so I'm off in an hour.

Re: Charlie's thread
I hope everything will go well at the vets. It's good that they could fit Charlie in today instead.

Re: Charlie's thread
Yes it is! Initially I had asked for an early or late appointment so I didn't have to disturb him during sleep time and the earliest was tomorrow morning. But I decided I didn't really want to leave it another day so they fitted me in this afternoon at 2.20pm.
It has been a strange week worrying about my Mum, Charlie and not being able to hear properly! And having a very active 8 year old around. When I have just turned 58 and feel like I'm dropping to bits

Re: Charlie's thread
At least by getting Charlie seen today it will help you to not to worry to much overnight, hopefully they can trim his teeth if they are a bit long as that might make eating easier for him. I will be thinking about Charlie, wishing everything well at 2.20. You might need to give him a special treat afterwards to make up for it (this is what I had to do with Sherbet when I took her to the vets as she also hates to disturbed when she sleeping, after you wake her up she falls straight back to sleep).

Re: Charlie's thread
That was a much better experience. The vet was brilliant. She talked to Charlie and said - shall we let Mum hold you while I have a look in your mouth. So I held him while she opened his mouth a bit and looked inside with the Otoscope and managed to see everything without scruffing him. She said his bottom teeth were a bit long and that's why he couldn't open his mouth properly to eat the food, which was what I suspected. He did actually open his mouth though. She clipped his teeth quite quickly and efficiently, but then said she thought she'd take a bit more off and clipped a bit more off them. Charlie nipped me a bit after she'd clipped them and grabbed the Otoscope with both paws as if he was trying to eat it (although probably trying to push it away).
Anyway all done quite quickly, and efficiently with me holding Charlie. She did say there is a small lump in his right pouch which she suspect is a blocked salivary gland and just keep an eye on it and to continue with Metacam which might help reduce any inflammation to the salivary gland.
Just got back in time to cook the tea I did give Charlie a piece of cheese and he pouched it and has gone back to bed. He didn't look too happy but at least he can eat now.

Re: Charlie's thread
So glad to hear it went well & wasn't anything too serious, a good vet makes such a difference to the whole experience both for you & Charlie.
I'm sure he's enjoying a good chomp now & loving the cheese bless him!
Fingers crossed the small lump is nothing to worry about & the metacam will help, if he'll let it!
