Aww bless him being unsure about the little doors.

Gopal is happy getting into a tube (pringles) to be transported into his playbox. He will climb out of it if i rest the end on the top of his house. Would Charlie prefer that do you think? Or do you want him to be confident with the doors?

Love the fat tube and the sputnik together like that btw.

Charlie seems to like the tube and sputnik set up too Last night I couldn't sleep and came down about 3am. He was curled up in his sputnik again, on top of the hemp mat looking very cosy. I went to talk to him and he popped his head out the front for a few minutes as if listening then climbed out and went right under his shelf at the back. Like 'go away' type thing. A few minutes later he emerged out of his cork tunnel and stood in the middle of the cage, could tell I was still there and came over to one of the little doors and wanted to come out - the one that doesn't have a step up at the moment (but will tomorrow). So I let him out for a bit. Something I said I wouldn't do again in the middle of the night when I am dopey and he is very active! I once spent half the night trying to catch him lol. He seemed quite cross when I kept picking him up to stop him running away and threatened a nip a couple of times. Funny little man. I think he is wanting to be out and about more now he has settled into his cage though so I'll set the playpen up. Just wish he wanted to do it when it's not the middle of the night lol.

His second hyacinth tunnel is coming today. The other one works well under one of the small doors as a step up and he likes them, plus it's another tunnel.

Any ideas I had of changing his house will have to wait a while I think as he was so freaked about his Sputnik moving for over a week and has been a bit territorial since.

I'm sure Charlie enjoyed his out of cage time. The things we do for our pets. I have the same thing with my budgie. He often decides he wants to come out just before I go to work. He is good though and has a few circuits flying then goes back in.

Hope Charlie likes the extra hyacinth tunnel and it doesn't stress him out.

Just been catching up with Bonnie Prince Charlie, those recent pics with the moved sputnik, his bum poking through the bars and making his way and getting a raisin made me giggle.
He's looking mighty well and very adorable, he always has but he seems to be glowing!

He certainly seems well and active Thin Lizzy! I think his fur isn't as good condition as it used to be but no bald spots

Charlie has been a bit grumpy this last few days and has also been chewing at his potty recently. I keep hearing these grinding noises in his house. When I emptied his potty the other day it was quite chewed around the edges. I don't think this can be good for him chewing plastic. I thought maybe it was a bit high up and he wanted it lower so today I dug a bit of substrate out under it and lowered it. He was not too happy about that but just dug himself into a hole while I did it. He wasn't handled much for 2 or 3 weeks when I thought I might be infectious, and seems to have got a bit independent again now! No sitting for cuddles at the moment and just wants to run back to his cage. I think next time I get him out I'll take him for a play in a different room as that seems to distract him from his cage being nearby and he always seems to enjoy that and settle down a bit. He has 'threatened' to nip me a few times recently when out of the cage and I don't think he likes being lifted out through the small door! So I shall go back to using a tube again for a while.

Charlie seems to go through grumpy old man phases! It really does sound like he doesn't like those small doors - you may just have to stick to using a tube.

Grumpy Charlie! Shame about the doors!
I'm sure he'll come around with a bit of taming refresher.

Is Charlie slowing down with old age? He may prefer his old cage if he is. Door problem solved.

Or has the spare cage been reserved for a new hamster.
