Re: Charlie's thread
Hey, Charlie.
Pinkneon here. I have a new friend for you! He is only a baby, just 8 weeks old. However, he doesn't actually have a name yet! I am letting him settle in for a few days before I introduce him properly (and I have to think of a name before I can introduce him lol) but there is a pic of him on one of my threads ... Anyway, thought you might like to know you have a friend!

Serendipity
Where did you get the bottle clip for Charlie's water bottle?
If they have a rat size Sputnik in the colour of the hamster sized one Charlie like it.

Ooh you have a hamster - must go and check your thread .
CMB the bottle clip came with the bottle. It's a Ferplast Drinky 75ml bottle - I like that I can have the bottle on the inside as it was a pain trying to get a spout through narrow bar spacing. Having said that the clip pushes the bars apart a bit, but at least I can leave it there once it's on. The bottle just clips into the holder.

Thank you. I may get one of those to go in my cage.

Re: Charlie's thread
I get them from Porton Aquatics as there aren't many sellers on Amazon and they are silly prices there. They're not that expensive. I got two last time to save on postage and it's good to have a spare. I like the bottles too - they let the water out well but don't drip really, even though I still leave them slightly unscrewed to let the water out well. I'm paranoid about bottles not letting water out!

Re: Charlie's thread
I didn't know that leaving the water bottle slightly unscrewed can help the water flow better. Thanks for the tip.

Re: Charlie's thread
I think Cypher told me that once. I never fill it completely - I fill it about 3/4 full and leave a gap, and leave it partly unscrewed - the water flows very well then! But it's a balance, if it's a little bit too unscrewed it can drip - but I haven't found them drippy at all - maybe one drip and then that's it.

Re: Charlie's thread
Can't remember where I saw it, but I read/heard to gentle shake the bottle a few times as it helps stop leaks/drips.

Re: Charlie's thread
Well Charlie is still a bit funny about the front doors on the cage. Last night he didn't want to go through either of them. He sort of clung to my hand and wouldn't go through either. If I tried to put him in the cage he crawled back up my arm! He finally accepted going in when I held him up to his sputnik which is now further over but also a bit close to the front of the cage although he did squeeze up and into it lol.
He's a bit edgy since the Sputnik moved - as in edging around cautiously when he's been out of the cage. But I came down last night and he seemed to be happily zipping about the cage.
I think I might set the playpen up round the cage again and set up some access from the playpen to one of the doors and see if he decides to go in of his own accord - and learn to ride that bike!
I think he definitely preferred having a big front opening door. The irony is I was concerned about how I would manage with the two smaller front doors and haven't had a problem at all - it's Charlie that can't get used to them!
