Re: The New Hammie, Johnny
Well he certainly looks like he will be very happy in his new home
How is he settling in?
Mavis has two different coloured eyes actually too, one red, one black. Is it anything to worry about? I just thought it was kind quirky!!

Re: The New Hammie, Johnny
I would say that he acts more like a human than a hamster, standing on two back legs
How unusual about his eye, ive never come across anything like it!

Re: The New Hammie, Johnny
It's not uncommon. It's genetic and runs in the family however can't be bred for reliably. So far it has happened with banded and/or dom spot and the hamster has cinamon or carries cinamon. It shows up best with camera flash and direct light. And there's nothing to worry about. However the general rule in rodents at least is the lighter the eye color the more sensitive to light it is. A red eyed hamster is bothered more by light then a black eyed one.
