Default A wheel for a Syrian

Hey guys I have myself a little bit of a dilemma!

Right so my hamster is a pretty large Syrian and the wheel that came with the cage is blatantly too small (I've left it in because a small wheel is better than no wheel). I ordered the 12" silent spinner and holy moley that thing is huge, It came for me only to find that it wouldnt fit in the cage.

The problem is I can't really afford a new cage and I'm just wondering what to do. I have to move the hamster into a different room at night because the current wheel makes so much noise but next week I am moving and ideally I need a quiet wheel as he will be in my bedroom. I believe he would fit in a 10" wheel so if anyone knows of any quiet 10" wheels that would be great! If not any advice on what I can do?

EDIT: The pet shop said he was around 12 weeks old, how much bigger do you reckon he will get?

You are not working about the silent spinner, the 12 inch seems absolutely huge! Its's hard to say from the photo if he's going to grow much more, maybe you could check the Weigh in thread to get a better idea?

Check out Wodent Wheels or Trixie Wheels. They have 11" and don't take up as much space as a Silent Spinner. I have the 12" Silent Spinners and even in a 40 gallon tank it feels like it takes up half the tank.

...haha,remember my large hamster cage arrived with the same house and a small wheel.FAR too small for my Syrian even at that age.I dont think he will get a lot bigger tho..mine didnt...hes lovely by the way!
I have the silent spinner 12 "wheel and it will just fit in her cage, but mainly I use it for her out of cage excercise.I take it out in the morning if i do leave in her Critters Choice tank,so she has more room to move around(although she usually asleep by then.)
Ideally they should make more 10" wheels.

Keep in mind that a hamster needs a wheel available all waking hours, even when you are asleep. They can run miles a night and this is their main source of burning off energy and curbing boredom as well. Physical and behavioral results can occur if they don't have unlimited access to a wheel.

..afraid the 12" silent spinner that is the right size for a Syrian wouldnt fit in even the largest hamster cages.
I have to use the 8" wheel sometimes overnight unfortunately as I rotate cages.
Agree, they run miles..and very cruel not to leave a decent wheel/excersise/boredom breaker in for them overnight.

The Trixie wheel/Wodent Wheel is smaller in size at 11" and is about 2 inches shorter total than the 12" Silent Spinner. I have a cage that is 12" high and the Wodent Wheel Sr will fit, but not the Silent Spinner.

Sorry, my cage is 14" and the total height of the Wodent Wheel sr is 12". The silent spinner is nearly 14". It fit in my cage but wouldn't spin. I just measured everything. There's also a 8.5" comfort wheel. I like it but the spindle can pull hair of really LH Syrians. Hope it helps!
