Default 'Normal' Tubes too Small?

Short Story: Are tubes, like the ones made by savic, too small for syrian hamsrers?

Some more detail..
I've had my Syrian Hamster for nearly 6 months now and I've been working continuously to improve his cage, he has the Mamble 100 with 2 shelves. He has two rat sized tubes to take him between the shelves as well as a ladder to take him to a smaller, wooden shelf, which then has a bridge leading to a larger wooden shelf which gives him access to a Sputnik house. I've just bought a set of tubes (linked above) and set them up so they run at an angle along his cage then across then front to the larger wooden Platform. He ran up it fine but when he got to the end he panicked, ran backwards then tried to turn around, I was concerned he would get stuck but he eventually gave up. This went on for a couple of minutes before I coaxed him out with a treat. He left the tube, then went back in and would repeat the process, he now seems more comfortable with it, and has taken to just walking half way up then chewing it. I've been sat here for half an hour now making sure he doesn't get stuck, so if anyone can let me know if I should just remove the tubes entirely, or if he should be ok, that'd be great. Thanks!

As far as I've read, it very much depends on the hamster. Some would be far too large for the tubes whereas others use them and love them. If you've seen him go all the way through he should be fine for now. Just keep your eye on him in the future.

As long as he's got an alternate route up there he may use his own judgement (most of the time) and go with the route he feels most comfortable with. He may not use them, simply out of preference. Then again, if they're a new addition to his cage, I'd give him a while with them to see how he gets used to them.

My male Syrian could do a squished 180 degree turn in one of his straight tubes (somehow!?) when he was younger and under 120g but I've not seen him do it in at least 6 weeks (+25g later). He can still walk through them, but he now backs up if he decides he doesn't want to come out of the other end after all. He also uses them less frequently than he used to, as far as I've seen.

Pippin was way too small for his when I first got him (mine are Ferplast) and now he looks ridiculously big in them - but he zips up and down all day long, and even chooses to sleep in them despite me doing my best to make them as unattractive as a lodging as I can. He can't do a 180 turn in them anymore, but he goes just as fast backwards as he does forwards and seems not at all bothered.
