'Normal' Tubes too Small?
Short Story: Are tubes, like the ones made by savic, too small for syrian hamsrers?
Some more detail..
I've had my Syrian Hamster for nearly 6 months now and I've been working continuously to improve his cage, he has the Mamble 100 with 2 shelves. He has two rat sized tubes to take him between the shelves as well as a ladder to take him to a smaller, wooden shelf, which then has a bridge leading to a larger wooden shelf which gives him access to a Sputnik house. I've just bought a set of tubes (linked above) and set them up so they run at an angle along his cage then across then front to the larger wooden Platform. He ran up it fine but when he got to the end he panicked, ran backwards then tried to turn around, I was concerned he would get stuck but he eventually gave up. This went on for a couple of minutes before I coaxed him out with a treat. He left the tube, then went back in and would repeat the process, he now seems more comfortable with it, and has taken to just walking half way up then chewing it. I've been sat here for half an hour now making sure he doesn't get stuck, so if anyone can let me know if I should just remove the tubes entirely, or if he should be ok, that'd be great. Thanks!
