Talking Pippin d'Artagnan the Dire-Hamster

Hello! I want to introduce Pippin, my new baby I have had hamsters before but not for several years as we adopted a rescue bunny who needed some love. Anyway, he passed away a while ago and we moved into a new flat in London. I suffer from some mental health problems and have always found pets therapeutic - my OH decided to get me a hamster as things are not so great at the moment, and oh my gosh I am totally smitten.

I've only had him for five days - he already has his own blog and I have been making gifs like there's no tomorrow. He isn't very tame, but we are getting there slowly.

I bought him a new wheel because the one that came with the cage was too small. He loves it.

He's also definitely helping with the mental health problems!

He has a very, very, very light colouration on the crown of his head. I didn't even notice it until I put him in the bath while I sorted out some stuff in his cage, and the starkness of the bath made it stand out!

I tested him out on walnuts last night and he wasn't really sure...especially after he really scared himself with one! I caught it on video, it's over here. I took him into my room (in his cage) last night and spent about an hour chatting to him. Woke up when my boyfriend got home and was all like "What is the hamster doing in here!?" He is a very light sleeper so I reluctantly had to take Pippin back into the lounge...sigh!

aww he gave himself a fright with his walnut! We always say - if in doubt have a wash as it seems hamsters do that to reassure themselves!
