Default Syrian female - is this a problem?

Just recently our Chocolate has been smelling more than usual, occasionally rather bad and not the usual on heat smell. And she often leaks a little i.e. when sitting on my hand she sometimes leaves some wetness. She is acting normal, nothing seems to hurt anywhere though she is aging and is drinking more now.

I wonder if this is typically the sign of something and if so what, or just normal aging?

The symptoms you describe, with smell, discharge and drinking more are classic of early pyometra or womb infection.
I would have a vet check her out myself and see what they say.

It all depends on her age and condition and the diagnosis the vet gives. If it comes to that you will need to make a decision however some older hamsters get a long period of remission with antibiotics and live out their normal lifespan really. See what the vet says and be sure to mention all the symptoms and the possability it could be this?
