Re: lh questoin?
Ooh Matty, that's good - 72 points is pretty good for a 9 week old hamster (in fact I'm delighted and hope my young 'uns do as well tomorrow!). I'm glad he's nice and dark for his age (Oodie is too - and so is Bluebell according to Louby). I don't know what to suggest regarding the skirt - his dad, Mars, is very simillar in the skirt line but I chose to breed from him because he's big and a nice chunky type as well as quite a deep Cream - he always gets marked down for not having much of a skirt as well, bless him. I was hoping any LH boys would inherit the long skirt of their maternal Grandad, Teresa's Dubaku (Will's Jake definitely has but he's still a tiddler unfortunately).
Perhaps mating him to a SH is a good idea. I've just done this with the Minimars and the boys are both SH which is great but the LH Cream girls look to be quite fluffy.
Just out of interest how much does he weigh now? There is a theory that LH boys sometimes put all their energy into growing either a long skirt or into growing big - I have found this to a certain extent with my boys.

I found this too. I had a cream and white Syrian, with very long hair. I bred him with my female, and the baby, Squirt, had a much shorter skirt than his Dad, but was HUGE, the biggest hammy I've owned. Much bigger than his Dad.
Sorry though, I don't know much about encouraging skirt growth.

Re: lh questoin?
That sounds like the case then as my Smarterone and Marteser boys don't seem to be getting any bigger at the moment but they've both got long skirts.
(Holly, btw Rumsey Smarterone got 72 and Monte Marteser got 69 at Andover - not bad when they're weighing in well under 170g still)

Re: lh questoin?
9 weeks old is far too young to start worrying about skirt length!! I would much rather my boys put on size first and grew their skirts later. If he reaches 16 weeks and has no skirt, then you can start worrying about it!

Re: lh questoin?
Oh I agree, I would just make sure he doesn't tangle any of the skirt he has got and then let him worry about growing any more!
He did well, well done Wellington
