However, its about an inch too tall for my ZZ2 (tallest of my ham cages), so unless you have an absolutely whopping hamster cage you'd never fit it in. It also takes up a lot of floor space.

Not all hamsters use wheels, I prefer to give them the option (but then I don't have any longhaireds or even any Syrians!). I've not had a syrian of my own for years, but had a pair of rescues a while back. One was in her wheel almost constantly, the other rarely got in hers. They both had jumbo rollys, and weren't big hams so it wasn't the hamster choosing not to use it cos the wheel was a squeeze. Neither seemed affected by how much they ran, so as long as they have room in their cage to do other stuff for exercise its not the be-all and end-all. They both seemed to love running in the ball though, they'd climb into it from the cage door
If you have a HUGE hammy that could only fit on a 12" wheel, what about using it in a play box?

Do you think the 12 inch would fit in a HH? Also, are the Wodent Wheel Snrs. 12 inchs?

Wodent Wheel Seniors are 11" - and plenty big enough for a very large Syrian. There's also a Wodent Wheel Large which is 12" designed for large rats etc.

I've never had a HH so I can't help with that question though - sorry!

On its stand, the 12" SS is about 38cm (15") so should fit in a hamster heaven (which claims to be 50cm tall).

Talking about wheel sizes I was at my friends house tonight (the one I refused to give robos to) and her Syrian is about the size of 6 of my robos yet the cage it was in was a fraction of the size of the cage I keep 1 robo in! Also the wheel she had was the same size as what I have 4 my lot. I told her she should get him a bigger one but she just shrugged. I've offered to take the hamster but it's her neices. Her neice has no interest in the poor thing. Tonight I tried to get him out (he's called choca-woka. Don't ask) and he was so skittish. You know what robos are like for running like hammies posessed but he was so untame! He didn't bite but seemed terrified :*(

I'm glad you have found a way not to give her your babies
What a sad story - poor little chap(I think he's got quite a cute name tbh ). Maybe you could see if she'll ask her niece to give him to you? Bribe the brat...um CHILD with a chocolate or something (I am picturing her as the spoilt one on Charlie and the Chocolate factory for some reason....I think it's the ham's name!!!!! )

I know that things have got a bit heated on the wheel issue - but when you hear about things like this, it does/should put things into perspective a bit IMO especially as this, in the grand scheme of things, isn't the worst.

Oh an aside - I saw a Robo silent spinner the other day - it was so cute and dinky!!!

Brat is too kind a word!! She is 6 and walks around in £150 Ugg boots and £250 tracksuit!!!!!!!

I think my friend had her best interests at heart but didn't think it through really. The brats mum wouldn't let her have a pet but 'the brat' wasn't really interested. I think it was just the novelty that has worn off Such a lovely hamster as well.

Why can't people see that the wheel doesn't grow with the hamster by itself? I've got 2 wheels for my 2 robos that live together. One of the wheels is quite bit big but they love running side by side lol!
