It blows my mind how people can think it's okay to keep them in homes like that. It's so mean! Anyone could look at that wheel and see that she couldn't get on it.
I definitely hope to show her some fun and lots of love.

I sure hope she will. As long as she is happier here than she was before, I will feel like I accomplished something!

Madeline's a very lucky hamster, to go from such a tiny cage, to a home where shes's going to be so very well taken care of!!
That wheel in the cage at the shop looks soooo tiny for her! And know exactly what you mean about a hamster being bewildered by the wheel and flying saucer, Little Nico was the same when he came to me at ~3 months.

It's so cute to watch! She would get in the wheel and walk a little, then she would turn around and look behind her as if she didn't understand why it was moving. Then she just kept doing it, a little faster each time, but she would stop and look around as if to say "Is this okay?"

Thanks very much!
I definitely felt like she was begging for me to get her out of there. She came over to the front like that every single time I was in there. It was breaking my heart to leave her there.... I just couldn't do it anymore!

Aww! She was probably like - "Finally, someone smart is responding to my SUBTLE hints!!" LOL! Can't wait to hear about her next adventures, she really seems to be full of personality! and I'd like to know more about the bigger hamsters (she's a Syrian?), I have only had the dwarf variety...

Yup, she's a syrian. I have 2 syrians and a dwarfie.
I'll definitely be posting more pictures of her when she gets more settled.
