Default Umbrous- pattern or fur type?

I have been looking for some syrian genetics informations and this is little something I don't understad. Some sites list umbrous ans fur type and some as fur patters? Please help.

It is a common coat mutation with the mutant allele of U.

Oter examples:

a Melanistic black
b Rust, (Guinea Gold)

Lg Light Grey, (Lethal Grey)

The confusion will be because it is more of an effect upon other colours.
It doesn't strictly look like a 'pattern' like spots and bands do. Nor is it a fur 'type' like long, short or Rex.

It isn't a pattern.
It is a gene in it's own right that affects the colour genes when present as well as them to change the overall appearance of that colour. It ticks the top of each hair with black so on top of cream it gives a sable. The colour of the 'ticking' is influenced by the base colour of the hamster so for example if the cinnamon gene is present as well as cream as in red eyed creams the hamster is Mink.
Agouti colours like cinnamon and golden just appear 'sooty' all over.
