Default advice needed please.

Hi.
I have the school hamster Hammy home with me this weekend. I work there. The lady who normally takes him had to rush off. I'm really glad as ive been literally begging to bring him home. He is such a lovely boy. And ive fallen in love. Aside from quitting my job and running away with him i'm going to have to take him back. He is loved and looked after but the problem is, his cage isn't nowhere near big enough! He's having a fab weekend being spoilt with a new bigger wheel and ball . However my question is if i buy him a bigger cage ie the alaska and insist he comes home with me at weekends and holidays would it be ok for him to have the big cage at my house and the smaller at school? Or would this upset him too much?
I cant take the bigger cage to school as id struggle to fit it in my small car and i don't think they would want one that big in the classroom. Yes i know it annoys me. They shouldnt of got him but they have and i will do my best to make sure he has the best life possible.
Hes a pets at home LH cream syrian and is just adorable

i would go to the RSPCA web site and check the minimal size cage for a syrian then check the schools cage if its to small print of the RSPCA web page and show them
then they can then get him a bigger cage or give him to you either way hamster wins

Ive told them its too small. I am friends with them. They did upgrade to the cage he's in now. Was a smallee one. Its a basic 52cm long wired cage. No platforms etc. He does have a tunnel i bought him and a hanging toy. Ive seen much worse. I just want to do better for him
Thank you for the advice tho.
There is no way they'll give him he. The children do love him as does the teacher. I just look at my jeffros barney cage packed with toys, comes out every night for ball time and cudfles and is left in peace with no noisy children. So just to make his life a whole lot more peaceful at weekends and breaks would make me feel loads better
