Default Basil - What colour is he?

Basil is 20 months old now and I always thought he was BEC banded because that was what I was told he was when I first got him.
Tonight I realised he has cheek flashes and white undies. I have sort of known this all along but have just had a mindset that he is cream because that was what I was told in the beginning Doh! (He was the first hamster in my current collection).
What colour is he? If he's a yellow it would explain a lot.
I thought he might be a honey...

If he was a honey he'd have pink ears and red eyes. Honey is cinnamon and yellow.

I think he might be a yellow - I think I can see some ticking. He is very pretty whatever colour everyone thinks he is

Yes, I should have realised that. It is just that he is so similar in colour to my honey, I was forgetting about the eyes and ears.
This is Honey, when I put the photos side by side I can see he is different but to be fair her eyes always look black.
All of his brothers and sisters had pink eyes and ears so I suppose they may have been honey.
I suppose I should have twigged he could be a yellow seeing as he has been the most delinquent hamster I have ever owned, I just thought I had done a rubbish job of taming him, the first hamster I had owned for 15 years and all that...

He is a yellow. He is a nice pale, wishy washy yellow that lacks ticking - just like all my yellows!!

aww I am so not ever going to be an ambitious show person I look at Bruce and Basil and just think "Oh how pretty" rather than "ooo poor ticking and not a nice deep colour"

Its probably why we have such a mottley collection of hamsters, but I am learning and trying

Even those with poor colour and ticking can win over a judge if they are cute enough - good old Bruce was given Reserve Best in Show by Jean Tye at Monmouth and she definitely knows what yellows should look like!!
